Default Clutch pedal problem

I guys I've got a 1.6 Impreza wagon, every time I try to launch at high revs the clutch pedal doesn't disengage until the revs go down, is this a fault or is there something built in that stops it? It works just fine normally when I'm driving

Lol at launching a 1.6 yeh most likely a safety feature to stop you ripping the clutch out of it, cant imagine the clutch on that model being up to any sort of abuse.

Don't these low powered waggons have a low/high range gearbox option? Could be something to do with that
