Default A little help please

I sold my Sti type uk blobeye a few months back I work away quite a lot so when it was sold me and the new buyer agreed that he would take the documents with private registration and get it changed over as he had a mate that could do it as he was a trader and they can get it done faster. So that I could get it back sooner and he could get the documents in his name as he was planning to tidy it up and sell it on quite quickly. Sadly how ever he has sold the car to someone else and refuses to hand over any contact details so that I can get in touch to try and get my registration back. Can any one help? It's a 2003 blobeye Sti Prodrive wr blue registration is K30 BJM

I know it should have been taken off but I was offshore when I advertised it and sold within a few days. The guy came to pick it up as soon as I got home. It takes 3-6 weeks now they have closed down local Dvla offices. I was hoping someone might recognise the car or know the new owner so that I could try and get it back.

A quick search on Google found this, following the link doesn't bring anything about your old car but might be worth asking on SIDC forum?

Sadly If the log book with that reg is No longer in your name you have lost all rights to the reg. You could have removed your reg instantly on the Dvla website. Do you have a copy of the last log book in your name ,you could try removing the plate with the document ref number on line if the log book has not been updated yet.

That's what it looked like when I had it. I know I have lost all rights to it. I have already tried on the Dvla website but the documents have already been changed. I would really like it back as it was a gift for my 21st.

I would never trust anyone with a cherished reg, even if the buyer has to wait for the car. As mentioned above you can do it online now in a few mins with a fee of £80

The worst thing was I was doing at as a favour to him cause I didn't even have a car to put it on. The online retention wasn't available when I sold the car I noticed it a few weeks later. I just hope the new owner is a member or someone knows them so I can try sort something out with them and get it back.

Have you tried applying to DVLA for the current owners details? https://www.gov.uk/request-information-from-dvla Might be worth a go?

As has been said, you should have put it on retention, but I know that's of little use to you now.

Anyone wanting to put their plate on retention can now do it online. I did mine last week and it only takes a minute, had the retention cert within 2 days.
