If you are diy on a driveway engine out everytime, should take 2hrs ish taking it easy for a first timer, gearbox out = pain in the **** on your back crawling in and out 50 times then the joy of dragging the box out and back in again along with the fun and games of fitting the clutch while you're under the car.
The other benefit of taking the engine out is it's in your face while you're fitting the clutch and you can do other things like fit new plugs with ease.
Gearbox out is a right fcukabout and takes about 4hrs then you have the joy of trying to get the ****** back in again while it's trying to kill you.
Not to mention scraped knuckles rust in eyes and neck ache for 2 days after.
engine crane, spanners and a jack to support the box.
