As soon as i put the i/c spray on auto if im doing a hard bit of driving the water levels rapidly drop. For 30/40 mins of driving the system uses 4 pints of water?is this normal?
Does anybody know anything about this system IN LAYMANS TERMS!

Red face

I have no idea about the technical side to this but I too have noticed.

I thought it would be like topping up the windscreen wash but to my surprise found I had been driving on empty for some time.

Be careful and top up regularly
Joseph.

You must have used a few gallons today then at Elvington Geoff.

Yes folks, I had the privilege to instruct Geoff, Debs, Jayne and Richard today and I'm knackered.

No, really Geoff.........great day, great fun and a great car. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

funny thing is, if u lot had decent intercoolers you wouldnt require the water sprays at all. ( if they work ) tho this sounds cheeky its meant serious.

i put them to the test and the reduction was so minimal tho u lot may have much higher surface temperatures on your intercoolers due to them sitting on the engine.

What you need is a Forge watertank in the boot - capacity 15 litres - fits snug!

Bigger intercooler is much better - but waterspray does help - but better still is water injection - better safe than sorry!

I tried to keep my water topped up on the recent wales trip, but got fed up of stopping every 20-25mins
I think ive used nearly 4.5 litres in 200ish miles.

I now only turn in on if I'm out of the city. I fill up with every tank and it seems to be OK.

There is a bigger res on the STi7 (4.5l I think). I guess they tried to make it last as long as a tank of fuel. Make sense that way.

whats the charge air temp difference with it on and off? Decent intercooler and u could forget soaking your engine bay with water or your inlet manifold interms of water injection... decent intercooler... sure not that much cost to the average subaru driver?

imagine the cold winter morning boost that u get but EVERYday
