Default MPH conversion my96 v3 WRX STI RA

Hi, I've just bought a Version 3 Sti Ra which has been in the country since July. The car is totally standard. I sold my uk turbo a couple of months back which I owned for over 8 years. So this jdm import business is new to me.

The Speedo is still reading kph and I believe is still limited. It has 180kph clocks.

I've had a search on google to see what the deal is, but I'm still unsure.

Can someone please tell me if I need a mechanical or electrical converter and where I might be able to get one from??

I'm sure there will be more questions to follow.

Cheers

Mechanical, you can get one that goes behind the clocks or one that goes on the gearbox end where the cable splits

Put a wanted ad on here,or sometimes come up on fleabay

Thanks for the quick reply.

Which do you think would be easier to install?

The one on the gearbox is easiest to fit.

I suppose I could keep it in kph. It would take some getting used to.

Am I right in thinking if I changed it to mph the limiter would be lifted?

I'll get some pics up asap.

Thanks

There are a few guys that sell the converters on ebay. They cost around £30-£35 and only about 1/2 hour max to fit.
