2 and half years ago , i viewed a blobeye . The paintwork wasnt the best but it had 76k , an exhaust , dumpvalve and a map .
It was at a dealer for 3700 , which at the time i thought was a little strong. The test drive was fun , really fun
. However a job change meant i needed lower mileage and a couple months after i bought a mazda mps.
Now fast forward to today , the mps is long gone and driving a derv 24/7 is soul destroying but wallet friendly.
Over the last 10 days iv looked at the market and everything <3500 is on 100k or more which i think is madness or am i just being tight.
As a further reference , about 5 years ago my friend had a 51 reg bug with wr1 alloys. This was bought with full subaru (99k) history for just over 2k.
Due to other commitments i cant purchase a car until january 1st but i thought id scout the market from now.

After 2008 the hatches came on the market and there not well sort after, you can get them in saloon model's but think thats only STI's and there insanely more pricey. So alot of people stick to the newage Impreza's.
But i can tell you the main reason prices of Impreza's started going up, it was when fuel prices went down. Think that was end of last year? Wasn't it close to £1.40 a litre? Now its £1.08 by me.

And not to mention 100's have been broken for spares over the last couple of years.
So find a good one is tough, hence why they are demanding a premium now.

Funnily enough i never bought a 6 mps the other week , then i remembered about the hassle of trying to tune it .
FB seem to still have decent priced cars , but they usually go before the weekend so i never have chance to see them. Ideally id want a wrx thats already modded instead of starting from scratch .

The price of fuel had nothing to do with Impreza prices rising,
It's simple supply and demand,
Numbers are going down with many a nice car being broken,
Then you add the likes of hurst car, Cheshire performance etc, buying any car and adding 2-3k on top,
The public then see these cars going for more and up their prices, and if some one wants one they have to pay,
If you look at autotrader, piston heads and filter out the trade sellers there's prob 30 for sale in the country
It's simple supply and demand,

I disagree with the breaking, as WRX models are not being broke, its the STI models, and the WRX models are going up in price aswell.
Yes i will agree that places like Cheshire performance have helped push the prices up, by buying all the cheap ones and selling them for insane money. But i'd say fuel prices has to be in the top 2 reason's. Impreza's are being imported on a daily basis into the country. Were still getting classic's imported. And prices started rising not long after fuel prices started going up.

I think it's this^ The hatches were less desirable and didn't sell in the same numbers, so as more classics and newages get written off etc, the price goes up for the clean examples.

Webuyanycar offered me 4k yesterday for my 05 WRX with 72k on clock. 
And they always pay well below market value too. Must mean it's worth 6k easy if sold privately.

I love it how he has taken a photo of the stainless steel aircon/power steering cover even though it is sat next to a rusty, crudy rad. Ah, shiney, makes all the difference.

Finding low mileage, mint examples of anything before the hatch models is getting pretty hard now, ESPECIALLY in standard form.
My standard hawk sti with 30k is up for sale.
£50'000 Ono. Will consider a swap for a GTR.

30p does, it was on £1.40 now its nearly at £1.00. To you it might make no difference but for people who use theres everyday work and back etc, it adds up.
Remember people on here selling up due to high fuel costs. To me it made no difference mine is only used on weekends.

Well I have been looking for a while now and prices are really silly for some of the scoobys I've seen lol anyways I am looking at getting another next year and I've seen quiet a few STI Blobeyes that can be had for 7k cash decent spec as well that do pop up could of got 4-5 by now if I had cash lol oh well next year hurry up lol ;-)

I've been on the look out for a WRX Wagon ('05-'07 blob or hawk) for a couple of months now, prices certainly seem to vary, and plenty of tat out there.
Vehicle mileage and history are without a doubt the biggest factors, some traders have low(ish) mileage cars up for sale but the bodywork is in a state for well over 4k.
Private, well cared for low mileage cars are generally around £4500.
There's a hawkeye lower tax bracket ppp wagon on Pistonheads for just 3k with decent mileage, a bit of TLC required for the bodywork but 3k is well under the general prices. Would've been worth a punt but it's black, I currently have a black car and a scratch is seen miles away.
As stated earlier there's not many cars available privately, this has made it all the more obvious when you see the car for sale a second time just a week or two later; case in point was an '03 wagon with leather and PPP, 93k miles for 2,750 - no less than 4 days later it was up for 4,950!!
