What car to swap for?
So after six months of abuse from people telling me I look like
A chav I am actually starting to think about a change. If work goes okay then I will keep the scoob as a weekend (potential track) car but I am thinking about what else to get. I know these threads come up a lot and the favourite migration seems to be an M3 but they really are a lot of car for the money. For around the 7/8 K mark you can find one with 70K on the clock which looks beautiful. Question is how much would I get for mine? It's a 2001 JDM bug Sti prodrive model. It has done 67,000. Since a £2,000 service getting all the hoses done, I have done 6,000 trouble free miles to brighton every day and am gonna get another big service next week. It suffers only with some slight wind noise which must be sills. Anyone got any input or advice? I do feel like a traitor if it goes, lol

I love the look of scoobys as there is nothing like it now days and is a lot of car for the money. I wouldn't even change it for the M3 as I've heard a few horror stories can you need to have a few grand a year for maintenance which is not worth it for an e46 m3.

Also with an M3, the suspension can be a bit dodgy and require a full replacement.
3 of my mates have owned M3's and the same thing happened to all 3 when they were close to 70,000.

I guess I am just warming to the idea of something a little more low-key now that I've had my fun. If work pans out nicely then I will definately keep the scoob. I wonder if at some point they will start to appreciate in value?

'drug dealers and wannabe gangsters' drive M3's (apparently) where I live and they are 2 a penny.....now however, scoobies are rare....stick with your ricer mate....nowt much more will put such a smile on your face.

Ive shown many an m3 a clean pair of heels. Plus i work in a bodyshop and if you think subarus rust bad then any bmw alot worse. Front wings, rear quaters and boot lid under spoiler rot really bad. Try pricing up some replacment m3 wings

I have both, a classic Impreza for a track car and an E36 M3 evolution, I love them both but for different reasons. I love the race bred, 3.2 straight six on itb's with rear wheel drive, but then I love the turbo charged flat four and all wheel drive of the Impreza! They all have their own positives and draw backs. If you can have both, go for it! If you can only have one or the other it's a tough call!

There you go, have two or more cars! Keep your Scoob for fun and frolics and get something more 'respectable' for visiting friends and relatives. But every now and then show up in the Scoob anyway just to show them you really don't give a sheet what they think

I was in a similar situation last year only it was the gaffer ( wife ) that was moaning that the scoob was too hard / not nice to drive so we bought an M135i, now I know it isn't as focused as an M3 but it's dull as dish water, quick in a straight line but very boring, I'm so glad I kept the scoob for my fun car.
