Advice on buying my first wrx blobeye
so ive always been into my bmw's but have always wanted a subaru. Just turned 25 and the insurance is fairly reasonable. I have a budget of £3000 - £3500 and have been looking at models around the 2001 - 2002 age.
Im curious of what to look out for common faults etc
I seen a nice wrx in a candy red however the owner said it needed a exhaust manifold gasket and had a boost leak at high revs so this put me off a little.
Any advice would be welcome ive had s3's and other turbo cars previously but with a child on the way i need 5 doors
Thanks

2001-2002 is bugeye, blobeye is 03-05 and what you should be aiming for your budget.
If those are the only 2 issues on a 12 year old car then consider it a minter, you're about to experience the world of Impreza ownership and about to inherit an old car that will have had multiple "careful" owners.
Things to look for are history and an owner that doesnt say "bruv" a lot. If they claim a wild BHP figure and no proof walk away. Subframes are prone to rotting around the radiator area so get underneath, rear shocks are prone for knocking so test drive over speed humps etc and push down on the rear of the car.
As with any 10+ year old car, expect age related stuff, mileage of around 100k will be average so should have had 2-3 cambelt changes depending on year etc.
