4.5k rpm, as im that 1 careful owner everyone mentions in there for sale adverts

To be fair I always set mine at say 6k rpm, and then as soon as you saw it in the corner of your eye and changed gear it would be at about 7k-7.5k rpm!!

Do you not set it to beep too?

I'm glad I have a classic as the whole idea of having a winking light or something beeping at me to remind me to change gears annoys the **** out of me
Had a courtesy car for a month whilst my car was off the road and that was some new Toyota avenues and it has this annoying green arrow all the time telling me when. To shift up or down .
I used to drive around ignoring it on purpose until it was up to the red line or near stalling

Do you really need a flashing light / beep to change gear?
It would do my nut in!

It really annoys me so mine is set at maximum. Plus I drive like a old grandad so doesn't ever flash.

Has the car been mapped and do you have a dyno graph for it?

To keep it on song you want it set ish 1k rpm before your graph starts to tail off, dependant on how quickly you change gear, you should be able to feel it when your cars run out of puff / no longer pulling hard.

On my WRX PPP I never go above 6k as beyond 6250 it's tailing off anyway, so it's pointless unless you enjoy thrashing your car of course, my STI Type R was slightly different with the 8250 red line and short ratio box, I tended to go a little higher, but again no point bouncing it off the limiter unless you like paying out all the time.

Why not just turn it off?

How? I've only really ever moved it once and that was to the maximum.
