Hi all,

Tom here. Looking into buying a 2006 Impreza 2.0l non turbo. Trading in my BMW 318M Coupe as it only has 3 doors and the wife is pregnant so I need a 5 door car!

Just a few questions - sorry if this doesn't go here, in a bit of a rush.

What are the running costs? Fuel consumption - guy said about 35mpg?
Tax costs? Insurance costs?

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it, I really like the car but need some numbers first!

Thanks all,
Tom

I have a classic sport for my daily driver, its done other 100k and still gets around 35mpg, when buying worth asking about cambelt, as Subaru recommend pulleys changed aswell, so can be looking at £300+ job

Apart from that there bullet proof, bought it with clutch slipping, replaced clutch, cambelt and thats it. Ran faultless for years. Just service ever year thats it

I'd be interested in getting a new insurance quote when you've got a minute

Great workhorses but I'd consider looking at a similar age Legacy estate.

More refined and still equipped with that Subaru rugedness and all weather stability.

Yes we know most people buy them to make turbo replica's so they can feel the have the creditability as a wrx or sti etc or think that buying any Impreza will make them part of a rally community

But depends what you want it for, there cheap to buy, its bullet proof, handle well in all weathers, and as i have experience fixing my turbo made it easy to work on.

I don't want an Impreza to feel part of any community or to be accepted.

I like the cars, I need a 5 door car as I currently have a 3 door. The wife is pregnant and getting a baby seat in a 318M Coupe isn't going to happen.

I'm not that old and don't really want to give in and get a 'crappy' Dad car just yet.

Thanks for everyone elses input though.

Notice you didn't say you wern't going to make turbo replica

To be honest Impreza is a great family car, loads of people change there cars to something boring when they have children, but to be fair the Impreza has 4 wheel drive safety, 4 doors practical and a big boot ideal for all rubbish you will be taking with you, plus reliable and second hand parts are everywhere

R sport is non turbo but runs 157bhp so shouldn't be to sluggish, so your going for wagon version as link below?
