Default Best standard size RB5 / P1 205 45 17 Tyres?

I've some standard 17 inch P1 wheels to go on my 2000MY classic and am going to stick with the standard size 205 45 17 tyres instead of moving to 215 40 17's.

The original roadtest reviews rated the ride of both the RB5 and P1 on standard Pirellis so all I'm after is the 'bit more planted' feel.

Thinking about:-

Hankook Ventus V12 EVo2's (New Audi TTs are factory fitted with them so they must be half decent)
Continental Sport Contact 5's (If I can get a decent price)
Pirelli GT Neros

What do you reckon ?

(I don't want mega grippers or track day specials)

I'm running Goodyear eagle f1 assymmetric 2 on my classic with speedline 17", also stuck the same as you with 205/45. Seem a very good tyre, good grip, good feel, noise nothing out the ordinary for a subaru! They won the evo magazine tyre test the year before last and did pretty well last year (third I think).

I don't rate pzero neros at all to be honest, but I did find you could get pzero corsas in the right size. Heard good things on those from a friend, I would have gone for them had I been changing all four tyres recently.

Oh and I believe the rb5 would have run pzero rossos orginally, certainly the wrsport speedlines came with them at the time, but sadly you don't seem to be able to get hold of those anymore. I'd go a long way for a set of those, but I guess Pirelli must have stopped making them.

The Hankook's look to be average from the Evo test - which surprises me that they fit on £35k TT's. I guess even with Audi its the best deal they can get for the factory.

The Pirellis were second to the Contis then the F1s. Looks like any one of those for me.

Pirelli P Zeros on the RB originally.
I've now got Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymmetric 2 on mine now, very good tyre, very happy with them. Did a lot of research before buying them.

I use the goodyear Eagle F1 symmetric profile one and I never had a tyre with more grip in wet than these one have. I would compare their wet grip being higher than the budget tyres (infinity i had) in dry!.

problem with them is that you need to work them in dry. If they are cold they don't seem to grip well at all.

That's 3 votes for the Goodyear F1 so don't think I can go far wrong with those.

Any P Zero Nero experience anyone as that's all that's available (found sound P Zero Corsas at about another £30 a tyre but too much for me)

The hankooks evo12 are a very good tyre imo. I have these in 215/45/17 on my classic when driving to events and I am very impressed with them.
