Default Best tyres for dry roads?

What would you say? If money didn't matter on this one, I have a place near me where I stay in the week (Brighton) who seek genuine. I hope this could cure my under steer issues which happen more often than I would like. I don't intend to drive hard in the wet, and I don't drive that hard in the dry, although on the odd heavy footed moment it doesn't take long to reach the limit...

Yoko AD08 are the tyres recommended by Simon at Chevron Motorsport and for me he's the guru when it come to grip and handling.

Ordered grooved discs from Godspeed along with their hard Kevlar pads, braided hoses and a litre of performance brake fluid, will aort tyres next week and aim to get the car back to Neil to have the geometry sorted

I have yoko ado8r and they are very good in dry and wet. Federal rsr and nankang ns2r also have very good reviews.

Get the geo sorted first, then spend money on rubber.

Doesn't that mean addressing the suspension?

Grip is not everything. The suspension, brakes, ARB's all add up to good handling. There is no point getting the geo sorted unless everything else is in good condition.

Geo is set when the car is static. You then get out on the road then you add worn bushes, poor brakes and rubbish suspension = it's a waste of time.

So basically I could also do my geometry, but then i have to do my suspension, so what was gonna be around a grand has to be more like two and a half or three grand. Surely I can do it in stages, with my brakes and tyres being the easiest?

tyres in the dry are pretty much all the same, quality pays in the wet,
as said whats the use of spending 400 on tyres if your Geo is all cocked up ?

But my question now is, is it worth spending 400 on tyres and getting the geo set up if I am not touching the suspension just yet?

Yes. But it won't be the best set up just a compromise.

Get some decent road tyres. Them road legal track day ones are uncomftable. Crap in the wet. Super soft compound = need warming up rubbish in winter and ware out realy fast. Most also come with 6mm tread instead of the usual 7-8

That's what put me off getting the Nankang NSR2's or whatever they are called. Great reviews for grip but not so for comfort. Useless really for an every day car.

I had some Goodyear F1's in 225 45 17 on my old wheels. Had them from new. Great all round tyre but a bit soft and in my opinion, the rears gave way a bit to quickly in wet conditions.

Just fitted Vredestein Sessantas in 225 40 18 on my Turinis and they are unbelievably good. No more of the rear letting go in the wet, just grip grip and more grip. Not uncomfortable either.

In my opinion, a decent set of tyres is one of the best upgrades you can make on the Impreza. Couple that with Super Pro front and rear drop links/arb bushes and the handling is now very sharp, even on standard WRX suspension.

You need some steering rack polly bushes and a set of PCA Dynamics springs in your life.

My name is down for the next batch of springs.

I don't find my steering 'wooly' at all so will leave the steering rack bushes for now.

This makes great reading for me as I have exactly the same on my PFF7's but i'm yet to use them in anger.
