Question Paint Code 792 Royal Silver

Hi guys,

I have a MY99 UK Turbo owned since 2000.
It is in 792 Royal Silver.

I live in Mallorca, I am trying to get a part sprayed in the UK before having it shipped here.

The vendor is telling me I need the "FULL" paint code from a Subaru dealer.

Is there a fuller paint code than just 792?

Please help advise

Send him a picture of your VIN plate under the bonnet, paint code will be on that, will only say 792 but it will prove to him thats the number.

Get who ever has it to check your VIN number. It'll say on there, VIN can be found Driver or Passenger Side Strut Tower, Door Jamb or Door Edge.

However a quick google shows 792

Thank you both very much for getting back to me on this.

I have already sent him a picture of my VIN plate showing the colour code confirming to him that it's 792.

So just to confirm there is no longer code used by Subaru than the 3 digit one?

Many thanks

Not to my knowledge, I'd suggest taking your business elsewhere!

Thank you Matt, I think you are right, I was starting to worry having owned the car for 14 years never before have I heard of anymore than the 3 digit paint code. Think I may move on to a different supplier...

This supplier is telling me his Paint Shop is saying that there's 7 different shades of 792 and it has to be identified by a Main Dealer...

that's *****

only way you can check the colour is by shade cards or using a spectromtre on your actual vehicle

Get the part delivered in primer and get it painted over there. Otherwise you run a much higher risk of colour mis-match.

He is probably right, there is most likely a few different shades of the one code, its very common. You think thats bad, you should see how many dofferent shades there are of the honda type r red (i forget the name)...
Although the paint code will still just be 792.
All you can do is have a few sprayouts done and match up which ever is closest.
You would be suprised how far out some of the shades can be from each other.

Silver is also a pretty hard colour to match.
