Thinking of going down this route in the near future due to the weakness of the current box and future proofing for a bit more power,

Just wondering who else has done this in similar models,

Also what options are available and what running gear can I keep on my model,
I know the diff can be kept if going jdm but seems an expensive option,

If I go for a uk then I guess I loose the dccd etc

Also what kind of costs am I looking at,

I've been in contact with a breaker but just looking to get as much advice as possible before I make any decisions

My v2 has a 6 speed conversion, bought it off Mattyrb5 on here for about £1600 a couple of years ago, included box, diff, prop, starter, rear r180 shafts plus hubs, think that's about it, still going strong at 436bhp/350ftlbs

its a must when running more than 350bhp/350ftlbs imo

My type r project is going to be running around 450 bhp.its staying on a 5 speed box with scooby clinics gear kits.less weight than a 6 speed conversion something for you to think about

If you want to keep the DCCD just buy a 6 speed DCCD box obviously that's what I did for my Type R.

Mine was from a UK 05 car and gearbox,rear diff,front driveshafts,propshaft,starter motor were required but obviously my car already had R180 shafts/hubs.

Cost £1500 (including postage) but that was more of a bargain than a normal price but if you have a look on some of the FB pages you can pick up some bargains think there is one going for about £2000 at the moment.

What sort of figure did that come to, would still feel more at ease with a six speed

For the sake of circa 25kg I'd go 6 speed.

I also wondered if anyone went for non dccd 6 speed and wether the took away the ethos and experience of the short ratio and dccd it already has,

Obviously the 6 speed dccd is that more expensive wonder whether if it is that much more worth it

I have a six speed dccd from a WR1 fitted to a V2 sti RA. The gearing is still frantic through the first five and sixth is like an overdrive and pretty much useless less than 70 mph, my car is currently running 320. I was tired of waiting for the next five speed to fail (I killed two). The car is currently having DCCD pro controller fitted, which I chose for the auto option and interface for the V2 dccd dash lights. IMO with the car being fitted with DCCD from the factory it makes sense to wait for a dccd six speed.
It hasn't been a cheap exercise

Its rare but there is another option USDM 6 speed which has uk ratios , dccd and 1:1 final drive so would match your diff. Its what I have (my04 box) and as mentioned above the first 5 gears are very similar to what you have now.

with exchange rate and shipping it may or may not be a viable option but worth knowing perhaps
