After selling my roughly 360/360 mazda mps to save money long term ,i want something 4wd with a little bit of pace.
I have been offered a wrx prodrive for what i feel is a decent enough price considering the mileage.
As you can imagine it has a few things that need doing considering its on 119k and a proper PPP .
1.Gearbox hum in 4th ( owner had to point it out) he has spare box and rear diff , so not a worry.
2. /N/S wing , bonnet and roof ( 4x2" patch dented & rusted) all need respraying.
3 . Central locking doesnt work , owner said he bought a "kit" off ebay so will chuck that in.
Now points 1&2 dont worry me to much at this stage but 3 does. It does lock but requires you to manually lock the passenger door than use the key for the drivers. The key symbol did constantly flash on the dash , what does that mean.
Is this a common fault, are keys easy to reprogram without going to a dealer as that may be first option . Also how robust are these ebay central locking kits.

if the key is flashing that's the immobiliser circuit - it may have been bypassed due to a fault. Fine for you driving but maybe your insurance company wouldn't be as pleased.
Some key cutting places can copy/clone your key and it's chip - but if you have a new key/new chip needing programmed to the immobiliser you'll have to go to a dealer for that bit.

Fair enough , i have just spoken to paintshop manager at work and showed him the pics of the damage . Lets say i will be stepping away from this one as its uneconomical to repair.
So if anyone that has a newage wrx <£2000 , can you give me a shout i dont mind doing a bit of work.
