my54 wrx needs an engine
Hi can anyone help?? my54 wrx started knocking so I invested in ej20 block took it home only to find out the block has only 4 belly bolt holes and my54 engine has 5!! Is there any way I could still use this block or is it going to dig deeper in my pocket? Any help at all would be much appreciated....

The newage blocks 5th hole is for the starter motor iirc.
The early blocks only had 4 threaded bellhousing holes because the starter motor used a threaded hole on the gearbox insted of on the block.
If you look on the newage gearbox you will see that hole is there but it is not threaded, i.e the starter mounting bolt passes through it into your 5th threaded hole in the newage block.
The easiest remedy in my opinion is to tap threads into that hole in the gearbox for your starter motor mounting.
