Classic - Wide arch or wide arch?
The drivers side rear arch has started to go and now the cars tucked up in the garage my thoughts have turned to which way to go.
22b/WRC style wide arch
Or ABW style arch extensions?
Which do you think looks best?

Abw also do a wide arch kit not just the flares.
My personal opinion would be go for wide arch but keep your original bumbers.

another vote for proper wide arch, still not sure the huge wrc style will work on the saloon though.. thats if you have a 4door?

I vote for the proper 22B style kit but it'll be expensive. If you can afford it and plan on keeping the car then that's the route you should go.
I do like the arch flares and they can look good. I think with the spoiler removed, low ride height and some big dark wheels they make an impreza look really mean. Plus it's a much cheaper option but they definitely don't look as good as the proper wide arch kit.

I've always been sold on the WRC kits (not so much 22b) but starting to side with the bolt on type.

No contest surely? Don't really get the comparison to be honest, one is a full on expensive job giving an awesome result, the other is a 'cheap' quick fix for fitting wide wheels.
And I'm not slagging the bolt on arches, they have their place. I just don't get the choice, if you can afford the proper wide arch kit, go for it. Bolt on's create an aggressive outline but are a bit crap looking when you study the look for more than a fleeting glance... The way the rear edges of the extensions end so short, the way they bridge the wing and bumper gap etc

What sort of figures are we talking here (ballpark)? Assuming you start with a type r in suitable condition. I've always wondered when looking at these sort of cars.

The (third pic from top) white WRC wide arch are higher "wrc" style carbon arches at about £2k just for the arches. Then there's cutting it all out, bonding the carbon panels on and spraying etc etc.
ABW and HT auto's 22b kits are about £1k iirc including front and rear arches and front and rear bumpers.

I'm tempted tbh, sell my hatch sti and my Mini Cooper s. Get a family car (a4 avant etc) and then make enquiries to build up a type r, I think I saw a post on FB from scoobyclinic starting a build today(?) hmmmm temptations....

I prefere the abw,I had the choice.the gray one at sc is being done for me.they also have a stunning 22b rep in white built an for sale.i just prefere the abw as I think it looks more aggressive each to there own I suppose
