Have you not thought of just keeping it standard and repairing as is.

Personally I don't really like "Fake cars" and I don't think it adds value either, fair enough if you like the look or want to fit some wide wheels, but by the time you've done all that it'll be at least £3k, then you'll have to keep forking out for wide tyres which don't come cheap, a really good quality full re-spray will cost circa £2k inc arches and bit's and bobs.

I'd sooner have a mint standard shell than a dogs dinner fake.

But hey it's your car and your money.

Yes sir you are correct, one they are not a fake as they are not a 22b copy.Or trying to replica anything else.an as for dogs dinner,is that your opinion of the arch itself or the workmanship?.i can a sure you there work is to the highest quality.an you are also right on the point. It is my money I do earn it so I will put the arches and what you call exspensive tyres on,to you maybe yes but to me they are well within my budget thank you for the concern ,but I will build mine to the spec I want good day :-)

And that's another problem. Like I said I contacted WRC spares and got a quote but that was with a 'but we don't supply parts for road cars' email too. I've found a few companies that do them, but never anyone to say 'I've bought from them and they're great'.

I understand why you're saying Ditch, keeping it standard is a purist idea but really I'm not
Looking at the car as an investment, more along the lines of a toy and something that makes me grin and proud to own it.
I wouldn't want it to be a 22b rep, as I say I don't think the arches are wide enough on the 22b for cosmetic reasons only, and I wouldn't spray it blue either lol.
I contacted ABW a while back and they said they were drawing up plans for the WRC style arches but that doesn't seem to have happened.

Does anyone know with the ABW or HT auto's how much of the original rear arch is retained?

And this is why I've started to come round to the idea of the bolt on arches. Cheap, functional and I'm actually starting to like the aggressive style as well.

I think there's a village missing an idiot somewhere.

FYI, I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to the OP so by all means bolt, stick or weld WTF you like to your car, I couldn't give a rats ****.

If I had to have it for the purpose of running wider wheels, I'd go with the extensions, purely from a cost point of view, but I'm tight.

Kwik - If you go for it see my fitting tips here

https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...h-fitting.html

Also on a 4 door car the rear arch is in two pieces and on the side with the fuel filler cap it is a bitch to get right.

I spend a bit of time down in Croatia on and off and Ditchmyster lives there, I wonder where in Croatia the WRC panel wizard is??

Looks like a good guide thanks. Did you ditch the front wheel arch liner?
TBH even if the Croatian chap is found I'm not sure I'd be tempted to buy from someone who barely comes on here. Also iirc he quoted me £1k per side.

I've enquired about welding courses at my local college and am looking at English wheel tuition. Although the best place it seems is in Cornwall .

No we did not
We used part of it and mounted it deeper into the arch.
The part of the front arch that is closest to the footwells not the front of the arch
I will be back with the car very late Feb, so I can get a pic then if you like.

Thanks Ditch. TBH to part with that sort of money it'd have to be someone very reliable, easy to contact and be WRC (S5/6 as Frayz says above) and if I'm honest in the UK.

I've had quite a productive chat with ABW today though .

Yep totally understand, things are a bit relaxed out here and it does look like an awful lot of work, his written English is word perfect too which is VERY rare out here, so maybe someone else is doing the writing for him which might explain the slow responses.

He's in the Wrong line of work if his English is that good because he could make a fortune translating.

I'm currently having the while ABW arch with compete respray being done at the moment. however if I had started with a 2 door I would have stumped up for the 22b kit.

Do you mind me asking what that will end up costing?
ABW yesterday quoted me as being able to do a WRC kit, but have no pictures of similar kits fitted. (Whether that would be a 22b kit modified?)
Rear quarters would be £500, fronts £250 and front and rear bumpers £300 each plus VAT. But all fitted and sprayed (not full respray) approx £2500. I'd imagine I would have to cut out any rust beforehand.

If your having that much of the car painted I'd go for a full respray or you might end up with a mis-match due to the age of the existing paint.

With the work I'm having done. About £4k.

On my £500 Turdo 2000.

That's my thinking. All of my panels are different shades anyway lol.
It's something that won't be happening soon, so I may look at some welding courses to start taking out and replacing any rust myself.

Don't spend your money on a course, spend it on a mig welder it's all about practice, I'm sure there are plenty of vids on utube that can show you basic technique, the rest is practice.

Go to a local body shop suppliers and get a sheet of panel repair metal from them and just mess around with it until you can do a decent weld.

I got my Mig and accessories from Machine mart, can't be arsed to go to the garage and look at the model number but it's the strongest that runs on normal 240v welds up to 6mm and also has the ability to weld anything dependant on little gas bottles that go on the back so aluminium ect is no problem.

Paid for itself on the first job, I spent around £250/300 all in with enough kit and consumables to last years, bag of gun tips, 3 rolls of wire, apron, head mask, spare lense, gloves, 4 sets of mole grips.

That's a good idea, I just wanted to get the basics in my head before buying any equipment but i suppose there's tutorials for just about everything on YouTube.

I'm not sure because it's a while since I did my research on them, I went for one that has a gas option because for the sake of another 40 quid I thought might as well get one that will be able to do anything I throw at it in the future. Mine has even welded a bracket back on to a JCB digger bucket and I made my garage door with it.

It's a Clarke 151EN turbo (there you made me go to the garage to take a look) I can recommend it but maybe it's worth starting another thread to get other people that know more about them than I do opinions.
