anyone still using MetaSat?
just re did my 100 euro subscription again for this year.
went to log in, but I'm sure previously it tells you went it's due to run out and also gave you a list of credits you'd used if the alarm has gone off/or been used for status updates.
anyone got a bit more info on it?

Yes I still subscribe, I got an e-mail reminder last August for my September renewal, didn't help much as was away on holiday so forgot about it until the evening of the renewal, fortunately it went through without reregistering
I thought it only showed how many credit points had been used but not what they were for... Will dig out my login details and check for you

So ignoring the fact that the website is naff and the headings don't really make sense, the detail is there under the "Communications Menu" where you select "Add Communications" (obviously!) then click on the red communications number to reveal your usage history and the renewal dates... its as clear as mud

Do you think it's worth 100euro a year?
or just piece of mind

I don't have my 330S anymore, but I always found the text status to be pretty hit and miss, after reporting it, they found the unit faulty and changed it.
But the problem reverted back some time just before I sold it.
I told the new owner.
Given the thread on NSR about an insurance company refusing a fella's claim on the fact that his house alarm didn't work, (even though he told them he didn't have an alarm) would suggest that you should probably keep renewing

To be honest I keep it active for my peace of mind as I often have to park in some odd places.
My insurance company don't care whether it's active or not.
I also like the idea that I can send an immobilise command to the car if the alarm does go off unexpectedly...
Mind you the klaxon sound I have associated to the MetaSat texts normally scares the living daylights out of me if the alarm ever goes off

Thieving scum steals your car.
You get alerted and send the command to immobilise your car.
The scummer was doing 60 at the time – the engine cuts out, he crashes and gets injured.
Your car is written off.
The scummer sues you for causing the injury by remotely disabling your car.
No idea if that would stand up in court, but I can imagine someone trying it on.

I don't think it turns the engine off. It immobilisers the car when they next try to start it up?

Phil there's a link on the MetaSat site under documents for the manual which lists the commands available, there are 2 versions there, but the commands for my MY11 alarm are:
SAT.STATUS
Immobilise:
IMM
IMM.OFF
Service mode:
SAT.OFF
SAT.ON
Speed warning
SPEEDxx

Kept my MetaSat topped up since I've owned the car, always found the SAT.STATUS command etc to be rather flaky when testing. Responses were few and far between.
