I don't see any problem with it - it's actually always retro-fitted by Subaru UK anyway. I enquired about this when I was looking at used Scoobies a couple of years ago, having decided never to buy a car without aircon again!
It used to be a £1550 (yes, really!) option, which dropped to £995 in late 99 - so that will probably be the cost. Personally I think it's worth it.
Andy.

Coolair fit all the UK cars aircon for Subaru UK. As Andy says they don't come from the factory with it (MY01 excepted).
It's exactly the same job fitting it after sale as new - except it will be included in the 3 year mfr warranty on a new car, and a separate (12m I think) warranty on a s/h car.

Hello m8
I had the aircon fitted to my car - MY00 - before delivery and I've got to say it ain't the best setup. It's been back to the dealer a couple of times to be checked by Coolair and all is supposedly normal. It never gets the interior of the car really cool - even when the fan's going full tonk. It's better than nothing, I guess, especially if you spend a lot of time in the car during the summer months.
Cheers
