Think I have found a cheap STi V2 (possibly '555') Edition
I have come across a 95 Impreza for sale which on viewing appears to be a STi Version 2 and possibly the '555' edition.
The car is finished in 53C (solid dark blue) and has the red top manifold, carbon STi strut brace, grey STi logo'd suede/cloth seats, I/C water spray and roof vent / flap.
I have checked the model plate and the code is GC8C4ED whick can be either the STi V2 or the 555 edition.
From the research that I have done, the roof vent and the 53C paint code point to the 555 edition ?
The car is showing 105,000, presume a mixture of KM and Miles but no history with the vehicle.
It is not the tidiest example, needs the bonnet painted and one wheel arch has some surface rust but has a long MOT and seems to run well.
It has a Greddy dump valve, HKS mushroom filter and aftermarket exhaust but could easily go back to standard.
I was not really looking for another project but I am tempted, how much do you guys think it might be worth ?

With bad arches and paint needed, I would say £800 as you will need to spend £1000+ getting bits done and with all projects there are always hidden bits to do,

It certainly is a STI V2 555 going from what you describe. It's defiantly a model that is worth saving as they are fairly rare and quite desirable in nice original condition. I like them very much and was actually hunting for one until my RA came up.
Price wise...... well you'd expect it to need some paint, nearly all early classics do, and the rust is another common problem. All of which can be put right though ofcourse. The only thing is the no history part. These imports rarely have complete history but people like to see some history of it while it's been over here. I'd say somewhere around the 2 grand mark would be a fair amount if it runs faultlessly and the basics are all good.
Ignore the £800 shout above, if it was a run of the mill WRX or UK turbo then that would be realistic.

http://sellsgood.co.uk/vehicules/car...za-555-2272389. If your going to pay 2500-3500 for a rusty one save some cash and buy this. Regardless of what some are advertised at they can still be brought for good money still, seen a few recently for sale.( no I haven't conformed these are 100% correct) so a rusty classic needing paint, new panels on the rear, no history can't be worth a huge amount in my option even if it's a 555. Seen a few McRaes selling for £<1500 needing work. I know these are uk based but fewer was produced than a lot of the editions.

I found one of these earlier in the year that had been sat in a garage for 10 years with very occasional outings - exactly the same condition/spec as you describe and the owner had never had it serviced in that time. It needed at least £1500 putting in to servicing/tyres etc and the owner wouldn't go below £3000 so I let it go.
I would agree with the £2300-2500 range.

I am only considering a 'cheap' (famous last words) project.
Sort out the worst of the paintwork and maybe replace the aftermarket bits ?
It desperately needs a full valet and a bit of TLC but I think I can see a car under there somewhere.
Really enjoyed the 96 WRX wagon that I had for a while as a cheap runabout.
I have a 54 plate widetrack STi at the moment so this would be 'as well as' rather than 'instead of' ?
If I were to say that I can own it for less than £1,000 would this put a different light on things ?

Why would a classic with rusty arches be a no no ???
Even the worst case is repairable. My last classic suffered with the usual problem areas, after I had it seen to it was better than new. It's certainly not a reason to throw a rare and fairly desirable car away.
OP, if it's a grand then you'd be mad not to go for it imo. At that price you could almost factor in a full respray and still be ok on price.
