one of us is, remember when we met and talked about bumper spats then i ran a 12.8 with a passenger at 256 bhp.

poor matts wrx troll is falling apart...

agreed 12.8 at 430 bhp is a fail but at 256 bhp which mine was is very good and considerably faster than a wrx

Default S202

Gentleman's agreement went out of the window in 2003 with the 320bhp S202.

And that would rip a WRX being considerably lighter and about 100bhp better off.

They were clever with that one as it was never badged as a subaru just an sti s202, so they could circumvent the agreement

All 6 speeds STI's are good at lower power levels, as power increases the ratios and heavier transmission losses become more of an issue. That's why you don't see many 380-450bhp STI's posting 11's. Plenty of 5 speed classics do it with less than 340bhp and tbh the lighter weight is only worth 20bhp.

I see a lot of fluctuating figures for the weight of the Spec C's. 1320, 1350 and 1380kg are commonly stated. What is the official weight?

Found this for the S202, not that fast tbh, 13.7? I managed that time with 280/273, 4k slip clutch launch.

Matt, why do you keep comparing drag times, it's about as pointless as comparing BHP figures.
For instance, my last classic was stripped out, had over 400bhp and still had the super duper 5 speed fitted. That car ran a 12.7 with terminal of 119 at the pod shortly before i sold it. Now not only was it alot lighter than yours and shared the same box it also had almost 100 bhp more than your car.
So what does that tell you.... am I **** driver..... were the track conditions awful.....was the weather bad.....was the timing gear out......

I'm comparing lots of drag times not just the ones I posted here and the same launch rule applies to both WRX and STI drivers if you know what I mean..

BTW, that's a red hot terminal for a 12.7 pass, you must have been spinning like crazy or really bogged down at the start.

Get your start right and that 12.7 can be an 11.5

It tells you that it was due to the variables like driver, track conditions, tyres, reaction times etc.

Basically the only way to get a true comparision is remove all the variables, the. Reason drag racing is a sport is due to the variables.
If it was possible to remove them the same car would win every time and the sport wouldnt exist.

I ran 12.8 with 256 bhp and a passenger so I may take up drag racing

So its the driver??? So the car is more capable then the driver, So basically all the drag times you have collected are useless, because it comes down to driver skill???

Been to Santa Pod loads of times from the top of my head ive done
13.7 in a MY00 Turbo 2000 PPP
13.0 Standard STi Version 4
13.2 310bhp modded MY04 WRX
12.4 400bhp Evo 6 RS
13.9 300bhp Focus RS

TBH most Scooby drivers can't handle the 1/4

fat-thomas' 12.8

JP4's 710bhp 1370kg STI WR1 running a 12.05 pass.

This shows that driver skill is important but he did eventually run a 10.8 that day so experience and BEST TIME is also important.

When I find a slow STI time I do try my best to find other runs/times by the owner.

Bloody hell my slowest time was 14.5 but most people only post their best times on forums/YT.

To eliminate skill I've not looked at 2 or 3 vids on youtube but rather sought data from a variety of sources.

If a 100 bad STI drivers average 13.8 with 300 bhp and a 100 bad WRX drivers average 13.2 with 300bhp then you start getting a picture.

Same applies for 100 good drivers v 100 good drivers.

Basically I'm seeing lots and lots of WRXs doing the same times as an STI with 20% more power than they have.

All I can do is log more and more times. Compare, look for patterns.

But you are logging incorrect statistics
My car 256 bhp and a 12.8 but you have changed and guessed the bhp to suit your cause

At worst I'm logging that the STI is slower if both are driven badly.

No you are logging bhp figures you made up

12.8 secs at 256ish bhp makes that faster than a wrx

TBH driver skill may go in the WRX's favour with the following times.

My blob WRX ran a 12.6 with 330bhp and fat-thomas' STI blob ran a 12.8 with 430bhp, the real Pièce de résistance is the fact fat-thomas, amongst others, were very very critical of my launch and shifting.

Again 430 bhp the fact you are making up the bhp to try and suit your cause makes me laugh....again

256bhp doesn't sit well (in any scenario) with doing a 12.8 in 2012 then following it up with this claim in 2013:

you need over 400 bhp to get into the 12's in an impreza.
Bit of a paradox, at best?

I must just be an exceptional driver, my car was running a 100% stock engine and unmapped when the time was set, remember you were there we talked and you saw me run the time

So all you are doing is making up the bhp to suit your wrx troll

12.8 with passenger at stock sti power....

As you say it was just a claim, hey I was wrong but the first part was confirmed by you as you were there remember??
