Hello everyone! I am looking at buying my first Impreza and needed some advice. I am currently talking to the owner of this:

I know cars well and I have heard that there could be a head gasket issue which makes me nervous. I will not be buying with cash I'll be trading my Lifted 98 Cherokee. Just Wondering if it's worth it or if I should pass. also looking for pointers on what to look for when buying a subi.

Any car running without a stat just to keep temperature low isn't good, plus an idle and speed sensor problem which all might be easy fixes if you know how but seems quite a high price for the gamble? I'd walk away personally.

Elsewhere - there are loads of these cars out there - don't settle for a rough runner or one with faults, there should be plenty with decent history and in better condition.
It mind sound harsh but I would advise against going for cheap cars with problems - these aren't cheap cars to run period, so if money is tight I'd suggest investigating a different marque.
