Default Whats its worth?

Yes, another whats it worth thread, sorry guys

Need to sell my 2003 Subaru Impreza WRX but the bottom end has started to go and I have no idea what to put it up for. It is generally ok condition on the outside, the inside is very good. The knocking has only just started and its very quiet but I want to be honest about this. I was going to advertise it on Ebay or maybe here but not sure what to ask, £100, £500, £1000 etc. I don't want to strip it as I just don't have the time, space or the skills

Here are the details.

2003 Subaru Impreza WRX
Colour Silver
96k Miles
Service History
MOT
OEM Stereo
Average Condition Outside
Good Condition Inside
Decated

Bad Points

Bottom end just started to knock
Engine light on as decatted (Was getting it mapped this month but no point now bottom end going)
Usual stone chips on front
Wheels need refurb
Small car park mark on passenger door

Any ideas what I should put it up for? Not after making the most money as I have bought a new Impreza now but really want to move this one on.

Any advice appreciated.

You need to trade it on to someone who will strip it for the special parts.
otherwise its a 500 car , sorry.
A dealer told me that there is little demand now for pree 55 cars , i bought a low mileage 03 diesel for 500 and need to try and sell our 03 plate 2l petrol mazda MPV for ++ 500 that has only 77k miles and Mot till May2015 , but maybe uneconomical to repair @MoT.
.
Sad days for you , sorry. we live in a time when its sometimes cheaper to buy again , rather than repair.
.
Anybody have a full Legacy exhaust for sale cheap?? please?? to fit Mk3wagon 2001 2L non turbo?? need cat pipe and rear box if i cant find used whole system cheap.

I think your dealer was pulling your leg. Demand for pre 06 car is more than likely on the up due to many reasons such as the weak 2.5 block and £490 tax cost.

op - drive it to the end and try to find another wrx engine,
for me is easier, on lpg i save 1k a year or more, no point to sell it than

Do you thinking asking £1000 is going to be too much? Should I just check it up for £500?

I was going to MOT it also but is this a waste of time?

Thank you. I have now bought a new Subaru Impreza so I don't really want to throw any more money at the old one to be honest. Its going to cost £600 for the new engine, plus fitting, plus a remap/remove decat and then sell. After all that, I doubt I will even break even. Probably best to get rid rather than throw more money at it.

How do you know the bottom end is starting to anyway? it might be something like a manifold gasket leaking which gives a knocking sound

A garage I trust and know very well has indicated to me and called me in to show me. I trust them totally, they are very reliable, race in Britcar and Endurance racing, do work for BTCC and I know them as well. Trust them 100%.

Fair enough mate, but don't let it go for next to nothing, you could drop a replacement engine for about £750 and then sell it for around the 3k mark

I think Linus is on the right track tbh - pointless spending any time/money on it

Doubly true if it is kept on the road - at some stage it will need re-taxing, insuring and mot-ing

And that lot could easily add up to £500 odd quid

Stick it on ebay for a week with no reserve, list the faults and take your chances but at least you know it will be off you hands in a week
