Default boost gauge question/help please :)

Hi peoples. Just wondering (another daft question) but I fitted a boost gauge today, sort of... Not wired the light in or fastened the extremely bad fitting/looking pod to my pillar. But did a quick run up the road, idle it reads just over -1 can't remember the reading for normal driving
And with my lead shoes on it max's around 0.5 (giving that I may have actually fitted it correctly)
And I have a 94 import if that helps too
Cheers guys

Try clamping the t piece and run round n check all turbo/vacuum connections. Potentially could have a boost leak

Does the car pull well as normal?

Idle sounds about right really. Seems to pull ok. But at high revs say around 4k 0.5 is all I get maximum. Was told this isn't piped up correctly though

T-ing of the Dv vac line is pretty common practice. The line returns back to inlet manifold?

The best reading is usually off the inlet manifold.

Have a look at the T piece and see if it has a metal restrictor fitted.

That looks piped up correctly.
On idle it should read negative and only hit positive on boost.

Yeah it does in the centre piece I remember that. And after actually paying attention to readings, idle reads -1 normal driving -.6 to -.8
Foot down just over 05
