Default HELP HELP HELP

I've just brought my first ever subaru impreza and just brought it home went out to the shop and the battery died when I slowed down. I tried starting it but was completely dead, two blokes passing gave me a jump start it started up but sounds nakered. The battery keep dieing and there is a nocking sound coming from the drivers side off the engine. Any ideas at what this can be as I've just paid a few grand buying this car it's a 51 plate bugeye wrx. Thanks

Doesn't sound like battery dead as why would the engine go when driving. I've driven with no battery just means you can't use lights etc

Probably alternator knackered which doesn't then charge battery.
think still needs small amount of electrical power to drive car if alternat or is knackered.

Where is the alternator on a bug ?
It could be a fcuked battery and a knackered alternator , if it's collapsed it will sound like a bag of spanners turning.
Seller sounds a **** if you have only just bought it and there are internal problems
Trader or private

For the love of god don't start with the word 'Cheshire'

Get a video clip up of said noise

Alternator is right there at the top front of engine.
very easy to get to.
You could put another battery on from another car and also disconnect belt from alternator and you should be able to drive the car until the battery runs out. And will also tell you if alternator is the noise or not as it won't be spinning.

There's no way that's the alternator making that noise. My money is on big end bearings.

Yes mate, or else a rebuild. Replacement engine is cheaper and quicker. Plenty of good breakers on here. Look in the market place section.

Surely it wasn't knocking when you test drove it? All too often, new owners rag the nuts off of their new ride in the few miles and then...... Knock knock knocking on heavens door!

Na I had a little test drive and seemed ok. Don't no much about subarus. Never had one before as o was driving home it seemed ok on the side roads but on the motorway could hear a little nocking sound but thought it was the exhaust or something just nocking on something. As for ragging the nuts of it I had my 2 kids in the car so it's been drove normally. I took it home parked it up and then drove it today with the new tax etc. It drove fine till it died and the battery went flat the 2 blokes gave me a jump start so I don't no if the judder from the jump start triggered it all off or made it worse
