Making her look prettier. Bug WRX / STI
OK..
Im pretty sure all this is OK, but as a sanity check I thought I would put my plan here and you can tell me what wont work.
2002 bug eye WRX wagon.
Now I plan on putting a pair of 2002 STI front wings.. to do this I would need the front bumper as I think I remember the wagon bumper does not meet up the STI wings correctly.
Yes / no ?
I think Bugeye STI's were NOT wide track, so my WRX ET55 wheels would be the same as the STI wheels .. so the WRX wheels would not sit any further 'inside' the wings.
yes / no?
anything else that I have not thought of??
Cheers
Vik

You'll need saloon bumper, wings and wheel arch liners. The wagon has a narrower track than saloon so the front wheels won't fill the arches which is why folks use spacers to make it look right. Quite a few cars running the conversion on here so I'm sure they'll post too. If it's of any use I've got bumper, wings, liners in 08v as I've decided not to go down that route. ATB.

STi wings are the same as any bug saloon wings. As above you'll need saloon bumper and arch liners. For reference the saloon has (iirc) 20mm wider track (10mm each side)
WRX wheels, even on the saloon, sit in quite a bit so I wouldn't worry. You can always space them out or fit STi/aftermarket wheels if necessary.

I quite like the bug.. especially the wagon.
but must have the STI headlamps.. WRX or stock lamps look pretty shocking.
I was all set to get the wings, bumper, wheels from Martty in the breaking section.. but the cost of a pallet over here just put it beyond the tipping point of what is really affordable.
Even after making the 'man maths' calculation..
if i were to get another car it would only be either a Bug STI wagon (hens teeth) or a Gen IV Legacy GT wagon..
cheers anyway all.. it was a really good plan I think.. shame I'm so far away.

Second option is go with ABW arches and wagon will looks bit better
But to OP,we are done it and we are like it how wagon looks with front wider wings and saloon bumper etc,yes you will need front bumper from saloon/sedan,arch liners,wings/fenders and should looks great on yours
And about the wheels, you will need bit wider wheels,we run low offset wheels and with bigger tyres 245/40 R18 or 255/40 R17 and wagon with them looks just awesome
Thanks,Jura

I personally think the bugeye is the ugliest stock Impreza when it's a std WRX, but it can be one of the best looking when it's a prodrive model with a drop and the right wheels.
But most of my favourite type of cars are ugly without the 'make up' Evo's, GTi-R's Integrale's Escort Cosworth, RS500, Impreza.. They all look ridiculous without their disguise.

I have to aggree, when i look at a hawk or blob.. I think they look a little dated... but a nice bug (wagon) with the projector headlights looks just right.
