Default Usual reaction....

So there I am sitting at work, actually working....when a lady from the other end of the office comes up and says "Why is your car so loud? we can always hear you coming and going"

Anyway so I reply saying how i've always loved Subaru's and wanted one for years, finally got to the point in my life where i'd be able to afford one and decided that I would buy a good exhaust for it. Granted it's possibly the loudest exhaust on the market (Blitz Nur Spec)

How do you guys deal with people like this? I get to the point where you end up repeating the same thing over and over yet they still never understand.

Strangely the people who actually love my car other than me are my wife and my mother!

Ask him why he drives a hairdresser's car when he not actually one, then remind him that is pointless

Tried that, but I get "yeah but is it?" and then we go in circles.

It's suprising how many people seem to have an issue with Subarus. My friend had one and his family were non stop at him about it.

I love mine and would never consider selling it unless I had too, due to money reasons.

I do find it bizarre though.

People been saying to me about my spec c, why have you got a Chavy car now and how stupid it doesn't have a boot carpet and missing side skirts etc..
I say to you it's just a subaru because you don't know what you're looking at

One of them drives a r32 golf which he thinks is fast.

I get exactly the same questions since buying mine recently. The quickest and simplest response so far I give is.. just because.

My usual reply is along the lines of "why not?" because they struggle to find an answer quickly and then give up. The lady today even asked if I was having a midlife crisis......at the age of 28....yeah well done love!

She then said I must be a 18 year old chavvy boy racer, to which I replied I'd love to see a 18 year old fully comp with all mods declared on a 350bhp STI. She didn't really have much to say after that.

I do think there is also an aspect of jealously to the negative comments.

Unless, of course, she was a hottie and wanted to tell you how cool it was. Then it would be her business

Sadly she was not remotely attractive, imagine Shirley from Eastenders (not that I watch it)

Why so loud? I love the sound of the Subaru flat 4, the noise doesn't annoy me so why not have the sound I like, louder than normal.

I also think the Blitz Nur Spec gives the Subaru the sound that it deserves.

Everyone is entitled to their own view, I like it loud, others like quiet cars, I don't go to them daily saying "why is your car so quiet"

I had a silly old ******* neighbour kick off last week. He actually had a go at my Mrs about my car being loud and waking him up on a morning. I always thought pensioners were up at the crack of dawn!

I was livid when I found out he'd done this as I was right down the bottom of our garden watering the plants before I left for work, so although I heard somebody out front, I had no idea it was this loon having a go at my Mrs.

Unfortunately I was so mad I stopped outside his house on the way past and gave it a few revs.....

When I later asked him what he was playing at having a go at my Mrs, his wife said my escapade had made him so mad it took her until 1 o' clock to calm him down!

Honestly though, it was childish of me but the alternative would have been me going round there extremely wound up, so it was probably the lesser of two evils.

The car is only a Blob WRX PPP.

No, people like you annoy me!

If it wasn't a flat 4, then I'd lose my mind.....

Joking aside, I can understand how people don't like loud cars and I don't sit there revving constantly, I get in, drive off and carry on with my day. What annoys me, is the constant questions about it.

Her; “Why is your car so loud? We can always here you coming and going.”
You; “It’s loud to drown out the sound of the dwarfs in the air box.”

Her; “….er…..”

The other guy; “Yeah your car is totally pointless, why buy a stupid car?”
You; “It’s not pointless. The point of a car is to get around. It gets me around ergo isn’t pointless. And a car can’t be stupid. To be stupid it would need to have intelligence in a low amount. As it’s just a car it doesn’t have intelligence so can’t be stupid. Dumb ***.”

Or:
Them; “blah blah blah your car blah blah blah.”
You; “Why are fire buckets red?”

Or:
Them; “blah blah blah your car blah blah blah.”
You: “Do you cry yourself to sleep at night thinking about my big bore?”

Or:
Them; “blah blah blah your car blah blah blah.”
You; “Why are you wearing that dress today? It’s so loud I can always see you coming and going?”

Or:
Them; “blah blah blah your car blah blah blah.”
Ad infinitum

The usual reply when I ask why is it not sensible is "just look at it" its honestly like talking to a child but with less intelligence

Just ask him, what isn't sensible about a car with 4 doors, 5 seats and a big boot!

Or say, "do you drive it? No, then mind your own"

If he carries on put a harassment complaint in to management. That'll shut the stupid f*ck up He is after all being "carist"

If people say to me about how loud my car is (and I think it would give any Nur spec a run for its money) I just turn around and say "It sounds lovely, don't it?"

With the bloke and his TT I would ask him as to why does he use his wifes/girlfriends car? If he says its his I would ask if comes to your home to do the haircut

Firstly this annoys me because the guy who sits opposite hates my Subaru and his ears ***** up and he starts getting involved saying "Yeah your car is totally pointless, why buy such a stupid car" (He has an Audi TT).

Secondly, it's not actually any of her business.

Anyway so I reply saying how i've always loved Subaru's and wanted one for years, finally got to the point in my life where i'd be able to afford one and decided that I would buy a good exhaust for it. Granted it's possibly the loudest exhaust on the market (Blitz Nur Spec), but again, the same guy was like, yeah but why do you need such a pointless car, get something sensible.

They are getting a reaction from you. It is brightening up their turgid day. Best option is to smile and be "breezy" on entering and leaving the office. As you've just been enjoying your car coming to and from work. Smile and watch their expressions curdle.

Ask him by what definition a mid size 4 door saloon with a big boot and 4wd isn't sensible.
