MoT emissions - proving the car is not on VOSA database
I know this has been covered before but I have scoured the threads and still have questions. My MY93 WRX RA has failed the MoT cat-equipped emissions test (it doesn't have a cat).
My understanding is that the MY93 car is not an exact match in the VOSA database and therefore qualifies for the less stringent BET test. However, the tester said that as he was able to look up the reg number in the VOSA database, this proves my car is included in the database and therefore ineligible for the non-cat test.
Given the Impreza wasn't introduced in the UK until 1994, that could be one line of argument but there must be others knowing that others' pre-96 cars have been shown to be non-listed.
I'll be speaking with VOSA tomorrow, but would also be grateful for any tips here.

Have you asked on the type-ra.com forum? There might be someone there who could help with the vin plate on yours, as a wrx ra shouldn't be on the vosa database. Mines a 95 and that wasn't on, so i had a non cat test.
