Default Will soon be looking for a hawkeye..

Getting the itch for another subaru now. Miss the noise lol..

Ideally, if I can find one. I'd like a rebuilt low mileage 06-07 hawkeye with dccd with full history... So if anybody's thinking of selling up soon, contact me

Is there anything to look out for as it will be my first 2.5?

Thanks in advance..

That was my plan yet decided to buy a house so now have a average mileage car 78k, coilovers, jdm sti alloys, full Tsl pulse sports cat 3" system, panel filter, Walbro pump, subaru 3 port boost solenoid, Tsl intercooler hose, full Ht autos lower line kit and probably odd bits I've forgotten. all topped off with a Bob Rawle remap to 355bhp 410ft lb torque. Nice all round package.

Additional 3-5k of engine build and a sc36-sc46 and it would be even better just can't justify it at the moment.

Don't be put off by all the 2.5 haters, it makes for a great daily Road car. Not all fail and obviously you will on hear and read the horror stories as no one praises that their car hasn't broken. Mines still on the original lump and if you buy at the right price you can factor in the rebuild which is the route I took. Might even consider letting it go for the right money

That has crossed my mind... Just theres not many tuners round me in Lancs that id use for a rebuild tbh.. So saves hassle just buying, lol. Its still an option... Just waiting on the right one

Yours is awesome... Although I'm going for sonic blue this time.. Already had black Not put of by the fact its a 2.5 either, after the list of cars I've had including an RX7, so how bad can it be, lol.. My RX7 blew up on me within 24hours. Lol..

Hi ScoobTypeR,

I have just purchased a Hawkeye. First time on the Subaru Scene for me, so signed up to join in.

Lovely car to drive - I am very happy with it so far (all 7 hours!) - However, on the drive home today, I was always thinking "Is this going to blow on me?".

Agree with Stevie regarding horrror stories. I have read so many of them.

I am not sure whether to investigate forging the pistons in anticipation of anything occuring. My local expert is Engine Tuner, so I may enquire about a quote! Just want peace of mind. I drive very conservatively the last couple of miles of my journey (not on boost) and leave a good 30 seconds on idle before switch off. I plan to take care of her, I hope she takes care of me!

Good luck with your search!

The previous owner to the guy I got it from had the gaskets replaced with cosworth items and fitted arp headstuds. Along with the custom map and I say this with fingers crossed it's all been fine and was done for piece of mind. If you're not after huge power and want to run around 350bhp/400 then that maybe a solution

With a 15k budget you'll be able to get a Hawk that has had a 450+ build by a reputable specialist. I'd go this route every time. No worries about piston or HG failure and a car that is bloody quick off the bat, without having to pay for all the shiny bits and the labour first hand.

£15k budget??? My mate has a modded JDM hawk STi which would be well within your budget!! His username is Lucko and his details can be found here https://www.scoobynet.com/member.php?u=48248

Details of what I know!!
43k miles on the clock
£140 a year road tax(even phoned the DVLA to ask if it was right and they said yes)
Full Milltek exhaust system(turbo back) with sports cat
Ecutek remap from JGM
Ap organic clutch
Carbon front splitter
Cosworth AP 6 pot brakes 356mm disc
Tein lowering springs
18x9.5 Rota Grids
new 235/40/18 Vredestein Sessanta tyres
Rear calipers refurbed and painted to match front AP's
HT auto side skirt extensions & rear bumper extension(not shown in pics)

Had a little blast against it side by side in my 380bhp/412lb/ft UK 2.5 Hawk STi and the JDM STi was slightly quicker to give you a indication of power wise between the UK and JDM car, id say it would have to take a 400bhp UK 2.5 to be as quick as this JDM!!
