Am I mad! Classic vs New bmw
I have my lovely classic on the drive unused for the last 12 months due to job changes and clash flow, I have just sat down and worked out I want/need to spent £2,500 to get it all back on the road, ie all new brakes, new tyres, full service, front screen, new subaru arch fitted at subaru and painted etc. I know car is only worth £2,500- £3,000 mint, So on the front it's money down the drain, If I don't get it fixed then I would get a new bmw at work, m235i or 435d xdrive etc but company car tax would end up costing a similar amount, so new vs old

Yes you are mad
Keep the Subaru
Modern BMWs are nice A to B transport but rather dull.
I am writing this to you from north Munich
However will you use the Subaru on the weekend?
If it is just the stop start commute to work. Go for the Munich product, it will be the more comfortable place.

If there's uncertainty about work, if you've a family or other commitments then it's a no-brainer - get the company car and let the Subaru go, free up some cash.
You can always get back to one.
I've been the whole roller-coaster, from 2-yr-old Cat to no car for a couple of years to where I am today (and I'm semi-retired).
At least you'll be one BM driver who won't try it on with Scoobies

I ****ing hate German cars, more to the point I ****ing hate German car drivers. What is about BMWs, Audis, Mercs that turns people into complete *** holes?
I had an A4 hire car the other week, I couldn't help tailgating people and the damn thing wouldn't give way to other traffic.

Just changed from an 09 plate 130i to a 2005 STI.
I just laugh out loud now.
But in your position I would go for the Beemer I cannot believe they can be any way comparable in costs?

If the classic isn't financial viable then get the BMW but I guarantee later, when you can afford it, you will be back in a Subaru! Msport /RS cars aside, German cars are soulless and too clinical IMO.

Having owned a scoob since 1997 and currently driving a BMW co car, I can talk with some knowledge. Agree that the Beemer is soul less compared to the Scoob. It's just ok but certainly not a drivers car that the advertising would lead you to believe. Ok, mine is a 320d but it's senses are dulled to the point of being a boring drive. I think they are pushing it too far...steering feel, throttle response, ride and handling are way behind the scoob.
Why not look at a co car with low co2 that would reduce the tax bill and that could fund the scoob for the weekend! Bit like my situation where I have a my00 with 85k and had it 9yrs and still puts a smile on my face when I drive it....
