mapping for header change

Default mapping for header change

Hi guys,

had my car mapped a few times now and im changing my equal length manifold back to standard manifold

now obviously everyone says it needs mapping, But my question is what do they change within the map for this?

anyone have any good info please?

its all really to do with exhaust pulses, i.e equal length is almost constant fumes hitting the prop of the turbo where as the un equal means it will have irregular pulses until at higher RPM, this will change airflow which also changes the fuelling needed. Someone may correct me on this tho

The fueling will be different.

Mainly fuelling and amount of ignition advance. It's possible it will effect the boost control also.

Thanks JG and the guys above, but for a simple guy could you expand on that explanation please?

What kind of fuelling changes and ignition advance would be changed?

Varies from car to car, headers to headers. Just corrected so fuelling is correct and ignition is not advanced to far or not enough.

Wideband is used to measure fuelling but not hc or co as its goes hand in hand with fuelling.
