Question Widetrack advice

Hi

I'm Nick from Northern Ireland, its the first time I have posted on here. I previously had a mk5 Golf R32 that I sold at the start of the year as I got an offer I couldn't refuse. I have been thinking long and hard about what to buy next.

I have always wanted an Impreza and the one which appeals most to me is a blobeye sti widetrack.

There is a 2005 black one in a sports car dealership near me which has always got very good reviews for the quality of their cars and customer service. The only think that is concerning me is the mileage. It currently has 80k but has full service history and a recent fluid service. The car is currently up for 8450 but would come with 6 months warranty.

I thought I would ask the experts and enthusiasts on here about whether the mileage would be an issue? I will be using the car as my daily albeit I don't do massive miles.

Opinions welcome

Wont be a prob if its been well looked after with good service history. Drive it and go on your own instinct. You can get low mileage cars that are about to pack in due to being badly looked after. My blob has 86k and never misses a beat and is as smooth as a brand new engine.

108k here just done a 3000 mile round trip to UK and back 24hrs each way pretty much none stop, obviously stopped for fuel and a couple of 40 winks along the way but never missed a beat.

36mpg too @ 70/80mph.

I went to see a similar widetrack about 6 months ago in Belfast with 67k miles and the asking price was £6750, just be careful you are not getting bent over a barrel for a nice spit and polish and a fancy worded advert. Bought one with less miles for £7500 in the end.

Haven't had any problems during ownership bar a weeping radiator, seems to be a common fault at that age. Watch out for rust starting around the top of the windscreen rubber, check for knocking from the rear (shocks). After a test drive open the bonnet and check the expansion tank (right hand side, behind radiator, beside battery) for bubbles. Check for crunchy gear changes and make sure the service history is complete. Depending on how hard a life the car has got it may need a clutch soon, also timing belt will need done if it hasn't been already.

If the car is as good as it seems and you are happy I would say go for it. Might be a bit high on price but you could be waiting a while finding a good one in Northern Ireland. The advert puts me right off though, sounds like something from an M&S food advert

I seen that and even thought about going over to view it. But unless they are willing to knock about £1k off it.
It's overpriced. The miles may not be an issue but what was worrying me was if I had it for a few years put 15-20k on it, the milage would be a bigger issue for a lot of buyers and you would therefore struggle to sell it on or loose a decent bit of cash.

The advert is a bit weird too.
There is no way it's going to be as good as the advert suggests due to it doing 80k.
The advert makes out it's a brand new car off the production line.

I have found another one, late 05, Crystal Grey, 46k miles, blitz nur spec exhaust, JGM remap for similar money, if I'm honest I prefer that colour to the black option. I think that is a better option.

dont think that was owned by anyone on rms. If you are thinking of matts? it wasnt a widetrack

grey one sounds a better car, though at 46k its due a timing belt if not already done
