Default 1/4 Mile Sprint - WRX PPP Wagon

Hi Guys,

As the title suggests, ran the quarter mile today at GTI International over at Shakespeare County Raceway. 14.4 seconds was my best time for the day. Pretty happy with that as it was the first time I've done it, I had three runs and I was getting progressively quicker each time. Although, not sure I'd have ever got the 13.7 quoted by Prodrive.

Great day out and really impressed with how the Wagon gets off the line with all that weight. Only took 2 seconds to get 60ft.

Really friendly crowd, good event and great weather!!

Nice day out, how do you book that?

Did you manage to get any video footage?

Ooh and your wagon looks sweet!

I think one of the lads I was with got some footage, I should have it in a couple of days.

Just booked it through GTI International, I think it was about £15 for half a day, unlimited runs, but to be honest, 3/4 is probably enough if you're launching it hard like I was. I started to smell clutch after the third and thought I'd better stop while ahead.

6000rpm and dump the clutch, you got to really give your car death to get even close to the time as quoted by prodrive!!

My first ever go on the quarter mile was 10 years ago in a standard MY00 PPP classic and I managed a 13.9, and by the end of the day I got it to 13,7 which I was over the moon with back then!!!

You could save some time on the launch for sure and that would put you in 13s possibly with quicker changes.

Prodrive reckoned the WR1 did 0-100kph in 4.25s so maybe you're posting a more realistic time!

Joking aside though you could improve on that with a little more practice, even if it is a solid time.

Did you get the prize for best turned out car?
Looks FAR too good to performance test

Mind you, it's tickled my taste buds now.
£15 for a relatively safe, controlled way to experience (and see) something of what it can do.

Sounds like a good club day could be made out of this.

No doubt, I just think the more practice the more I'm likely to fry my clutch.

It was a really good laugh. Would be great if we could set something up with the scoobynet guys.

I'm now considering options for more power in preparation for next year.

No idea what's happened to my photos, they're not showing up anymore....

Looks like fun! I was at Santa Pod last weekend at the Jap Show with my local club. I thought about running but having never done it before, I didn't want to kill my car (also a Blob PPP WRX wagon!).
