Hi all,

I went to view a WRX STI 2003 which the owner claimed to be a spec C. The car had the standard STI seats but had the engine codes and features like the water sprayer tank, and stripped boot etc of a spec c.

The car was originally imported from Singapore (not sure why from there as usually it is from Japan) and the owner claims that he has not changed the seats. My question is whether whether any 2003 spec c came out with the standard STI interior from factory?

Black seats were in later models AFAIK.
Singapore has heavy taxes on >10 yo vehicles so I guess it was exported for this reason recently.

I have a 2003 white Spec C that has black seats. I read something once that they all had although I presume any owner could have changed them or indeed probably asked the factory to change them at purchase time. If there's anything else you want to check then let me know.

the motorsport edition had blue seats and came with no brembos too, made to be converted to a rally car.

Wrong, they came with the interior from the NA base model Impreza aka a throwaway interior.

Blue seats were not just for special editions.

I owned one of, if not the first brand new SPEC C imported into the UK. It had blue seats and was not a ltd edition.

I was of the impression that the black interior was introduced later on in the version life.

Are you referring to Blobeye Spec Cs or in general?

This one has Brembos =(


Would you have any links to your information so I can read up a more regarding this? Also was your Spec C a blob eye?

All I can say is that I have a 2003 Spec C Ltd (maybe the Ltd is the key?), and it has black STI seats. I seem to recall that I read (somewhere) that all of these (Spec C Ltd) came with black seats. If the chassis number means it a Spec C, then in my humble opinion I guess it would be.

Only the 2003 Spec C ltd's had the black seats, the 17 inch had blue and the 16 inch had Justy seats (or as good as).
If it is a Spec C ltd then the engine code will be different to other 2003 Spec C's by 1 letter i think.

It has the manual wind-up windows too. Looks like the real deal but man I really wanted those black seats.

Just out of interest how much is it going for, what mileage and mods?

Nice looking car :-). Is that how much they sell for in NZ? Converted being £11.5k in UK money.

That's on the high side! They normally go for around 18k NZD.

But fuel is here is bloody expensive.

Which code? the one ending in EJ is the normal 17 and 16 inch engine, the one ending in ER is the limited and they only made the 3 types in 2003 (no idea what that other one is).
