Rocker cover gasket, only takes a small drip to cause a lot of smoke, common problem on them.

If you're handy with a spanner you can do it yourself in a morning. Not a tough job, you just have to be immensely clean and careful.

lol that made me chuckle, but nah dont worry mate i have had it before through the scoop.

im sure someone will jump on here and explain how to check but i think its a case of checking your down pipe etc, if there is any oil etc on the pipes etc then you would expect some to burn off

I had smoke coming out of scoop and from os front wheel arch when I stopped, turned out to be a front cam seal leaking and dripping onto exhaust. Seals are cheap but lot of labour, cam belt off to replace. Also oil had contaminated cam belt so had to replace that too.
I was lucky, fixed under warranty.

when the engine is cold run your fingers along the bottom on the rocker cover if its leaking you will be able too tell, it only takes a drop to smoke like hell, there easy enough to do, everything has too be mega clean when putting back together, if you dont feel upto the job a decent garage that deals with subaru will do it for you for around an hour or 2 labour.

"Do you have wrapped headers?"

This, deffo, they smoke especially after it rains, lol

Basically are your exhaust headers wrapped with heatwrap? If so it could be this that is smoking.

What colour was the smoke? White is water, blue is oil, and black is a fuel issue. Plus if smoke is coming out of the exhaust then I can't see that being a drip at the front.

Could be a bit of spilled coolant, that takes days to burn off

Possibly a split coolant pipe

I had a wee leak once at my power steering reservoir, it had run onto the top of the block an ran down behind the cam belt covers onto the exhaust manifold
