Default ECU recoding prices

Got a prodrive ECU need it recoding so works with my keys, few people on here said it should cost around £45, so i have had 2 quotes, one was £203 lol

2nd was £78, abit better but still seems pricey, any other suggestions?

I thought the same, I remember reading somewhere to recode the
keys you connect the service connectors under the steering wheel
and then press the lock/unlock buttons a few times and that's it.

I recently paid Cambridge Subaru £40 to recode an ECU for my MY97. They needed to specially order in the diagnostics equipment (Select Monitor) from the Subaru UK head office as it sounds like Subaru UK only have a few of them and loan them out to their various dealerships when they request them. Other than that, it took the guy about 20 minutes to do.

What is the code on your ECU? I know the A18-000 DV8 one definitely needs the key coding.

Yes bud thats the next stage, just currectly buying upgrade parts, but just holding back from ESL for month or so as i checked my water yesterday and nearly empty

I'm guessing as cars been in heated garage for 12-14 months and engine next to boiler it evaporated the water, so need check not done head in, as will need throw ESL money at that, plus cambelt etc

So you think the mobilizer isn't even in the ECU?

Hmm i might give it a try, i heard one person tried and worked, other said neither ECU would work after he tried it so thats what put me off trying

The immobiliser is a coded chip in the ECU. We disable it on ESL unless asked otherwise.
