much bertter off buying a wrx type r.

will set you back £10k ish. will look identical apart from spoiler deisgn adn front bumper. change the suspension and for 12k you have a P1. Only difference is 7.5k redline not 8, but with the change the can get yourself much much more performance.

I know of a certain P1 that went for £17k and it was mint. I would have had it myself if I had had the money at the right time.

They are out there keep looking.

£18.5K!

if it's beaten senseless - but then I wouldn't touch it anyway. see the for sale thread about mine! (mine is not beaten senseless btw). I'm not too far away from that with the car as standard to be honest.

I would be very wary of a 'cheap' car - there is nearly always a reason why it is 'cheap' and often you will find out the hard way. people only sell cars cheap cos either they are so desperate to get rid of one or there are underlying issues with it. It's a lot of money to lose by buying a nail.

You want to pay less than trade money for one. (the advantages of working in the trade). I have never been bid less than £20K for mine as all the original crap about the new sti being cheaper/better etc has now dropped. And from what I can tell the dealers are going back on themselves and rating the P1 as the daddy again!.

e-mail me on chris.archer@vizzavi.co.uk and i'll give you the info on my car if it helps.

With the STI7 available new for £25k (UK) or £22k (EU) P1 prices must start coming down soon. Ok the P1 looks much better and has an extra 10-15hp to play wtth, bur the STI has 6 cogs, improved handling (arguably), 4 doors, better build quality, cheaper servicing and a 3 year warrenty. There is also no way to guarentee a used car hasn't been mooded, crashed or abused. STI 5/6's are also moch better value.

Flame suite in.

I had to drop mine (Y, 8000mls) to 22.5 to sell it. Even then, stuggled to find a buyer. The market is pants - you should be able to get an early one with 25k miles for 18.5 I reckon.

I'm not sure why some people give thier cars away!

The subaru dealership that we own (the co I work for) would give good money for a P1.

I'm not sure where some of you guys are buying your cars from becayse they are no where near that cheap in the dealer network. We tried to steal a W plate p1 for £19.5K with 15K on the clock - kind of hard to do when the other local dealer was offering over £1000 more (discounts on the new car were the same too), so they wern't getting round it by over allowance.

As the dealers now say - the p1 is a completely different car to the sti 7 which is ugly, big and lardy (flame suit on)

Think about it - ask 100 people, subaru nuts or not line up an sti7 and a P1 together, which would they go for? - the tests we did came out over 75% chose the p1.

Chopper - i know for a fact as a straight cash purchase we would have given you over £23500 for your car, you, my man are truely giving it away (must be mad)

All it takes is a little perseverance & phoning around and you will get the deal you want, without others talking the market down.

Oh well.

Sorry for the rant!

oh yes - an early one with 25,000 miles on it for £18.5K

well - high value scoobies, the dealer would put £3-4K across the screen price - that means they would have paid £14.5 - £15.5K for the car.

Man you must be on drugs!

even the non PPP RB5's still fetch more than that!

when i had the last service done on my p1 i asked what my car would be worth, its a 2001 y reg, 8k, alcons and 18's, the dealer said he would retail it for £28,500, they had two p1's in, both sold within the week, didnt bother asking what i would get against an sti for part ex as i dont rate it, waiting to try one with a ppp though

The £17k P1 was swapped into a Saab dealership as no one was buying to save it from this fate. The car was mint and the owner was straight.

It's sad but true, mind you I got to keep some goodies from it

Fair enough paul, but just wait till you try and sell it.

I am not having a go, but no Impreza holds its value any more.

know what u mean ive never made money on a car but p1 has a certain bit extra and the dealers will allways want the good ones on the front and prices are set by people dropping price because they need to sell.i plan to keep mine anyway with a few mods 350bhp is obtainable and able to scare most things on the road.

C,

Well my P1 was on the market for 8 weeks, in 3 editions of top marques, autotrader, pistonheads, scoobynet plus local mags and various internet sites. I rang 8 dealers and tried 2 p-ex es. I had <5 calls out of all of that - all offering around 20k. So, no, I am not mad, just found it exceedingly difficult to sell the damn thing.

If your dealership would have given 23.5k, then why didn't they? It has been blatantly advertised on this very web site for 2 months now. So my opinion is not changed I'm afraid - it's a tough market to sell a P1 in at the moment

Don't know to be honest they don't use this as a medium for acquiring stock.

I don't know what area you are in but the prices to fluctuate a lot - between dealers, again some seem to sell them whilst others don't like all cars, so some will out bid themselves too low as they would be scared it would either sell in 5 mins or sit there for months.

Especially with manufacturer stocking policies, for some it is just too risky.

If i had seen the car for sale I would have bought it myself for that much.

Please don't take this as a personal dig as it is not intended to be - i can't comment about being in your situation as i have never been in it.

I persoanlly don't think p1 prices will drop any large amounts more for quite a while, but we will see.

"STi's aren't a patch on the P1's" I beg to differ!

My STi 5 (which the P1 is based on) would, I am sure, give a P1 a proper fright anyday with some 320bhp!
