Cheapest P1?
#31
i think what people are saying is p1 is great starting point for any car and once modded is even better.not that it is the ultimate impreza but just a very good one that can be turned into a beast if u want

I personally think the P1 is the worst starting point.
The beauty of the P1 that is tsupposed to make it worth its money is the warranty. Mod and you lose this.
start with an sti for half the price, and you can mod that without fear of residuals.

You have to remember most people on Scoobynet know what they are talking about when it comes to the P1 and why it is such a fantastic car. We are all Subaru enthusiasts and know what there is to know about the different Impreza turbo models and what makes the difference.
There are some people who want a Subaru and arent too clued up, perhaps people who hear the hype and want to join 'the club' probably would look at the new STi for 22k and then maybe a W Reg P1 selling for 20k+. As far as they are concerned ones new and ones second hand and would no doubt go for a new one, or if they just wanted an Impreza turbo then for 8 grand less could they could get a standard W reg turbo.
At the end of the day not everyone is loaded and often people save for years and years to be able to buy a car, unfortunately I think the majority of people who save 20 grand would want a brand spanker.
For this reason I think there is a possibility that P1 prices will keep depreciating as cars do because enthusiats are only a small minority of the public who want to own a Subaru.
However, Escort Cosworth prices are strong and there not a patch on the P1, although Im sure people on here might 'deg to biffer'

Escort Cossies have held their price because there is no real alternative that Ford make at the moment. They were relatively rare and then Ford didn't replace it with anything so they held the price well.
The P1 was rare also, but was superceded with newer and argueably better models. If Subaru didn't make a better car than the P1 then it would have held it's value longer.
All Imprezas turbos would have held the value better if demand still outstripped supply (like the old days..). Which brings me onto a slightly different subject which deserves a new topic.
