Default brakes steaming, yikes!

I just put brand new 17x7.5 rota boosts on with 5mm spacers. Car has laid dormant for a month. Took it for a drive and heard a scraping noise coming from front right. Like metal on metal. I did a few brake tests as well 60-0 abs test too. Still scraping was there.
I returned home sprayed a small ammount of wd40 on each brake. All fine except the heat generated in the front right burned it off!
Are my brakes sticking could it be the pads? They were changed 10k miles ago.
Might have to convince the missus that some new brakes are in order.

Just sticking after being not driven for a while, it might clear itself or you might need to take them out and clean them a bit. Or even a tap or two with a hammer can sometimes work.

You'll just have to clarify this for me, just where did you spray WD-40 on your brakes and why did this seem like a bright idea?

As above. Hope you havent wd40'd the disc surfaces. If you have remove the pads. Chuck them in the bin. Clean the disc's with brake cleaner and fit new pads

I had the same thought. WD40 on a brake disc? Really? A lubricant on a friction dependent part?

The rubbing seems to have gone after a drive out. I think because I park it on my drive which is on a slope maybe the hand brake works a bit harder?

I don't bloody know. Eithet way only had car two months but its clear it needs new brakes anyway

I genuinely didn't know what effect wd40 would have. I sprayed a small amount on the calipers

The clues on the can, the bit that says 'lubricates'.

Anyways, by the sounds of it you may well have a seized piston on the calipre.

ok, ok. silly mistake to make, but i just wanted a quick fix. I wasn't thinking. Brakes still work fine and the sticking has stopped. as to whether the wd40 helped remains to be seen.

actually now you mention it, if i ruin them it would be an excuse to get some new ones and can play the safety mistake with the missus

I think you should stay away from cars altogether after that!
