As long as it adheres to the spacing, font and character sizing permutations then it'll be fine - there is no specified legal size for a plate, although for a seven-character plate I think you'll struggle to fit everything on a plate that small using the mandatory spacings and sizes.
I say just go for it, worst that will likely happen is a £60 fine and maybe a few points - if they bother to pull you that is My mate's Teg has a plate the size of the tiny front recess (about 13" x 3" if that iirc) but I think he gets away with it as it's a JDM import and the police probably can't be bothered to go through their legislation

If it's an import then smallest legal you can have to keep digits at 64mm high are as follows
7 character registration = 410mmx90 (have a 1 or I? = 380mm)
6 character registration = 350mmx90 (have a 1 or I? = 330mm)
5 character registration = 300mmx90 (have a 1 or I? = 280mm)
If it's uk then it has to be quite a bit bigger for the 79mm digits
Standard 7 character is 520x111
6 character one is 410x111
5 character is 350x111
At the moment plates are non endorsable and most deal with it by a £60 fine but there is talks of introducing points so it will be 3 points and £60 fine.

As above only if it is an import with correct spacing but even then 370mm is small, Mine is road legal at 410mm x 90mm, That has 7 letters/numbers at 44mm wide with 10mm spaces and border with legal blurb on, check out craigsplates
But if it's a UK you can't have it legally.

I've got a 12" x 3" plate on mine and never had an issue with it.
Been through a few ANPR traps and never been stopped.
I do keep the original one in the boot just incase.

I got done a few years ago with a small number plate on my old scooby. The funny thing was the spacing was not legal and that was pointed out to me but they said not to worry about that! Spacing was the same on the rear as it was on the front (rear was legal size) they just wanted me to put a legal size number plate on the front.
I couldn't understand how they could charge me for the wrong size plate on the front and point out the spacing was not legal and tell me they're not worried about that??
The bit that got me was there is or was nothing to stop me being charged again by different coppers for the spacing.
