Default Break for parts or fix?

2001 WR Blue Bug WRX

NOT A SALE THREAD, JUST AFTER ADVICE!

My gearbox has imploded yet again, and I'm fed up of fixing this damn car. Ever since buying it's been a money pit but I've gotta call it a day I think - just trying to balance up which is more economical at this point - fix or sell.

I've conservatively estimated that I can sell the fun parts for about £3500/4000, but not sure about the basic stuff like engine and shell.

How much is a rolling shell worth? No rust, some stone chips, full new SuperPro polybush kit (not sure if it would be easier to remove all of the wishbones etc. and sell them as a polybushed set?)

Engine has done 102,000 and I was told by previous owner that it had a rebuild at around 70k with Wiseco pistons but no documentation etc. but it's not missing a beat at 320bhp?! This is the clincher that makes me think breaking the car is the more viable option purely because it's a high mileage engine and that'll put people off before looking any further into my ad

Is an ECUtek remap any good to anyone or is it pretty much junk without the work around it? I don't even know if it'll stay on the ECU if I unplug it. Clueless lol

Can't believe it's come to this, I only bought her in October and I've invested 4.5k on top of the sale price already excluding the fuel! Anyone got any miracle solutions for me? I'll wish I'd fixed it a few months down the line when I've succumbed to the charms of an FD RX7 instead

Looks like I'm selling the MR2 to buy an RX7 then

Any gearbox rebuilders you'd recommend? I've spoken to API and Zen performance, had a quote from a company in Silverstone too but so far they're all around £900 including exchange of my broken box.

I regret selling my Prodrives, lovely wheels!

Source another gearbox and modify your driving style rather than the car!
