gpssti4. Nice1 mate thank u .
Like I say I am the 3 owner. 1 in Japan imported in 2004 then 2 owners. Now I got it. I got it as iv never seen a cleener car this age . It's got 140 thousand on the clocks . So just over 80in uk miles . Only got service history when it came into the uk .
I payed a lot less then £1000 as I knocked him down & showing someone cash always helps . Lol . Am not up for selling it yet as its my 1st Subaru , & I love it . & knowing its a true classic makes it even better. Was just seeing what it would be worth . So thank u for that
Am well happy that when I do sell it I will get my cash back no problem . .p.s don't get the last bit , is my spelling that bad . Sorry if it is . Shod of gone to school a bit more lol.

400-500bhp will require a fair amount of work and will cost a fair bit. And I doubt the original block will take that kind of power without a forged rebuild. Then theres the gear box, clutch etc, all of which will need uprating.
They are money pits when you start chasing big bhp figures.
280-300 would be a more realistic figure and even then you're bound to have something let go at some point

My advice would be to maybe swap the brakes from a Version 4 onwards STi, 4 pot brakes and some decent shocks and springs and some other handling mods and more importantly just enjoy the car, No point in throwing ££££ at a 20 year old Impreza which is worth £2k tops because a engine build will cost double what the car is worth!!!

Have a read through this if you got a spare couple of hours, to see how good a JDM twin scroll Impreza are. standard form they have a good solid engine and gearbox and Shaun is running 490bhp/475ftlb! on a standard internals and if im correct the standard clutch!!
