WR1? Worth it or not.
As title really, is the WR1 worth the extra.
I like cars that are slightly different from the norm, and it would be a bonus if they don't lose a shed load of cash as well.

I have always liked the Wr1 they are quick standard handle well and a good place to be,they will hold abit of value more then the standard models because of the limited number run,but they are ten years old now and there not a Ferrari if you get my drift,so really it's up to you, nice cars but don't expect a massive return.SJ.

WR1 = uncommon limited edition car that should hold its value well if maintained. Some feel best examples likely to gain value. Marmite paint colour.
MY04 Blob = pretty much the same car. Lower value. Unlikely to lose much value if maintained well.
MY05 Blob = best car of the three dynamically. Excellent examples commanding prices similar to WR1s. Unlikely to lose value, best examples in my opinion likely to gain.

Without looking at current prices, I think a standard WR1 with Sub 70k miles would be around 10-10.5k, where as I have seen abused or high mileage ones as low as 6.5k.
Personally I think the colour is either a love it / hate it, But I personally think it was a bit of a mistake with the colour choice by Subaru, but at least the colour isn't common which is a bonus unlike the Mica/WRC blue (cant recall the paint number)
The spec of the car from memory isn't bad, its better than the early Blobeye, and similar to the DCCD revised Blobeye although its not widetrack. The interior is one of the nicest out of the standard spec's. At least its a 2.0 too which is a bonus
If you have say 10K, id be tempted at looking at a Spec C personally.

For me a modified one is worth more to me because it would cost me more in the long run to do a standard car up to how I would like it. Yes I will still change things to personalise the car to myself but I look for things like decent brakes, suspension and engine work etc
Others will say a standard one is worth more but again it's all down to what the "buyer" is looking for.
My wr1 has had around 20k spent on it.

Agree completely with the above. I got a good deal on my standard wr1, and as things need replacing I'll do so with better parts where I think they're needed and factory where I think not. So far it's had new tyres, new pads and discs, new cdf droplinks, and uprated arb's. It'll probably end up costing more than a mint example in the long run, but I know I'm creating exactly what's right for me. They're still a fantastic car when standard though, so don't be put off by one that is.

Looking to rub down and underseal the rough areas I can next Saturday, then a machine polish and detail on Sunday ready for supercar seige on the Monday. But she's in dire need of a decent wheel refurb, thanks to a bit of a rough one at some point in it's life.

I did end up buying one in the end, #038, not totally standard, but all the OE bits came with the car should I wish to change it back to totally standard.
All I need now is to get on to the WR1 site to see what's going on, ( registered over a week ago, but no email as of yet ).

Believe it or not, I've not taken any yet, I'll post a couple from the original add and promise to take some soon and add them.
