First impreza
Hi all
I'm in the market for an impreza wrx bug/blob. Wagon or saloon and as standard as can get. Got budget in the region of 2k I know I won't get garage queen for that but nicely maintained one is all I'm after. Can anyone put me in the right direction? Is it achievable?
I know I can get classics for the money but it's going to be daily so looking for something but newer

I've seen a few high milage ones around the usual places. eBay auto trader gum tree etc. but all appear to modified in some way. I'm not looking for a monster either. Just a smile on my face to and from work.
Any common issues that I need to look at for. I've read that bugs can suffer from rotten sub frames
I'm going to look a wagon with in budget tomorrow. Got 125k on the clock but talking to the gent on the phone it seems to be well looked after, belts clutch all recent etc but obv all will be revealed on viewing. Got my heart set on an wrx so fingers crossed.
Any thoughts

So yesterday I made a purchase. well looked after major services carried out at slowboy and Scooby clinic etc there's a few bits that need sorting. But nothing mechanical and major.
51 plate bug wagon in 02c blue
Done less than 5k in past 6 years. Feels nice and tight. Pulls very well.
Right now it's got decals all over it. These are not to my taste and was worth looking past that.
But I need shot of them any tips to get rid off the after math on the paint work. Will a good clay n mop do the trick?

Welcome.
You have done well to get what appears to be a well looked after example of what you were looking for within budget.
As far as problems with these go, one fairly common thing with these cars are the top hose to the rad can split over time and cause coolant leak, as can the plastic top section of the radiator itself. Touch wood these are the only two problems we have had with our car (52 plate blob eye) that we have had in over six years.
As for the decals, the company I used to work for we used to have to strip the sign writing off the vehicles when they were decommissioned and sold on, a right pain in the ar*e.
We used the method as above, a heat gun and a lot of patience, but we were lucky enough to have a sign writer next door and another a few doors down and they would give us a jar of liquid that we used to get rid of the glue residue.
As they would give us this in a random empty pot I do not know what it was called, so unless someone on here can tell you I would suggest going down to your local van sign writer and asking them what they use.
Or you could post a thread in the detailing/car cleaning section on this site to see if anyone knows what to use.

Not to sure if that's going to work but there she is.
I've removed four with a heat gun already. Aiming to get the rest of the weekend.

Yes buddie with some change too.
4 brand new tyres, Got cheap eBay dump valve on it. Previous owner put japspeed system from cat back. Got a bung in it at the mo and probably will stay. My dad and next door but one have both got classics. The street must love it haha
What peoples opinion of these? They're stainless so should stand the test of time?

I've been lusting for about a year but my current car went bang a few weeks back. And rather than chuck money at it thought it was time for new wheels. Searched a lot was prepared to go all over the country n by chance this was only 25ish miles away.
As for the exhaust I'm not too fussed at this stage as I'm not going for power mods, just don't want it too rot.
