Default Who wants to drive a WRC subaru?

Just dipping a toe in the water ,it would cost about from about £299 for a drive in the car ,and before you say OMG how much !!,fuel at £15 a gallon ,tyres £280 each new ,brake pads £500 a set ,and we daren't mention the clutch !!! The car is a Prodrive built S5 WRC (22b)with full active diffs etc ,RHD ,not an old shed but a currently used car ,your opinions will be welcome .

I'd say that you'll get about 30 minutes behind the wheel.

Beware though, for those that have not driven one of these machines before, they're damn hard work!

Good response ,I would probably look at two venues one North and one South ,before you all get excited this is just the start of the process !! and it wouldn't happen till towards the end of the year due to other commitments .

I doubt it would be long behind the wheel as they are damn expensive to run , I have one.

Did a rally in Ireland last month as my first proper event , bit of a steep learning curve but was getting nearly on the pace sunday afternoon.
Had a few mishaps on the saturday stages , going into a hairpin and the O/S rear wheel decided to snap all 5 titanium wheel studs which was a bit of a shock

Put us out of the rally but got it back to service and fixed it to go back out on sunday , also broke an inner CV joint !

20 new steel wheel studs £1000 !!
New inner CV joint £650 !!

Cheap they aint !!

Fuel is £4 per litre and it does a mile a litre on the stages lol , but boy are they fun

If you have the money , go for it , it will be an experience to last a long time

I've had to do loads to mine as it was no where near ready to rally so if you need to know anything about them give me a shout , I've had the box out to shim the carbon clutch , rebuilt drive shafts , suspension , changed loads of rose joints , changed steering arms , track rod ends ! and this was supposed to be a car ready to rally.

Had it cutting out then and changed coil packs , ignition amps ect , and it was fixed by taking the plug gap from 0.5mm to 0.4mm ! took us a while to figure that one out

I'm back out next end of June in Ireland doing Ravens rock

All 5 titanium studs just snapped , apparently they are life'd , and should be changed after a certain amount of hours , we were told afterwards you may get one snap that tells you to change them all , unlucky we didn't have that !

We have bought steel ones now that are fit and forget , but slightly heavier , at the level i'm at a few ounces in extra weight won't make any difference lol

Great stuff - I'd be up for the south one. By the way - are you thinking tarmac spec or loose?

Please keep us informed.

cheers

Don't know what the OP has planned, but I'd be hoping for loose surface personally - much better fun
