Tyre regs 2007 for competitors
Just a bit of info for newcomers and also for experienced competitors, to make sure we dont have any issues with tyres on the day. post any specific tyre queries on this thread only. We dont want to see anyone turn up with bald/illegal tyres and be disapointed they cannot run, so do double check before you turn up. the handling cct is quite abrasive on tyres, if they are barely legal at the start of the day you will be excluded if you strip the remaining tread away below the legal 1.6mm limit and try to run on them.
For all Scoobys in the competition (incl Pro/top car class sub 11.3s 1/4m.)
Only fully tread patterned road tyres of the types listed below are allowed in these classes. Road legal minimum tread depth must be maintained at all times during the competition (1.6mm over 75% of the tyre width). Illegal, bald or dangerous tyres will result in the car being disqualified without refund. Should it rain on the day the scrutineers and clerk of the course may also decide which tyres may not be safe to run on in the prevailing conditions.
Acceptable tyre types for road classes- in general any road tyre that is E-Marked is ok including any tyre on the current MSA lists 1a and 1b plus the others listed below. This covers almost every genuine road tyre we are likely to see on the day. Any non-e marked jap import tyres should also be ok as long as they have a full width tread pattern and tread depth (all day!). specific questions- ask now.
The following specific DOT marked trackday type tyres are also allowed:
Nitto 555’s, Toyo 888s, Dunlop D01J and DZ02G, Yokohama Advan A048rs, BF Goodrich Comp TA, Khumo V70A, Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials (similar to Nitto 555s with full tread pattern, please note there is a clear distinction between the two types of MT DOT tyres available, one of which is a wrinkle wall and not allowed.)
We may consider proposals to add other tyre types to the allowed list, subject to confirmed acceptance before the event. We reserve the right to refuse entry on the day without refund if illegal tyres are used.
All above tyres subject to min tread depth rule at all times and the cars/tyres must finish the event in a road legal state. Specific info on actual car regs will be posted shortly in a seprate thread.
now the important bit-
No wrinkle wall drag tyres or full slicks are allowed for any scooby. if you are unsure what yours are post up a picture of your tyre and ask!
