Default Slow but worth it.

Thought I would start a thread on my car. It will be very slow but over time I hope to be able to look back st this and see the before and after results. Will start from when I bought the car in march 2012 as a birthday present to myself. It's a 2005 sti in we blue and bought as a totally original example right down to even having the original exhaust system which is rare, from Subaru themselves. 52,000 miles and full Scooby history. Here are the first few pictures a took of it.

First small change to the car was de badging the rear end. I knew I defiantly wanted to get rid of the large Subaru across the back but from there I wasn't sure what to keep and what not to keep.
This is how it stood when I bought it.

Then removed SUBARU badge and left with this.

Finally removed the WRX but left the STI one side and IMPREZA the other.

I pretty sure this is how I'm gonna keep it.

Pro r air fresher came with the car along with some pro r mints. Good old Subaru dealers. Sure do know how to treat there customers.
No real plans, just gonna take it step by step. Exhaust is next going 3" bore with 5" exit from jperformance. Went to fit the back box last weekend but found out it was about 4" too short

No need too panic tho, fella I bought it off has sorted me out the hayward and Scott centre de cat that he had extended to fit his newage, so picked that up this weekend. Just need decent weather.

Just a few ideas...
Change wheel colour to dark anthracite
De tango front end
Front splitter
Exhaust as above
Lowering springs or coilovers
I went to change the mudflaps for blue ones I had kicking around in the shed but once I fitted them I wasn't so keen, so took em off again.
Of course a re map at some stage, but that goes without saying.

Having the stainless centre section cleaned up this weekend. Where it had been extended the welding wasn't very clean and tidy so thought I would get it re done and tidied up. Last thing I wanted was to bolt it on to the car, then 3 months down the line it gets worse. Safe than sorry.

Got round to fitting the exhaust. Middle section is 3" Hayward and Scott, with a jperformance 3" back. Had to do a bit of chopping on the middle section to make it fit with a flange in place. Thanks Ian for that. The first picture is with it fitted with no chopping. Really was a McDonald's chav looking thing.

Sounds soooo good now. Got that nice loud Scooby warble that I wanted. Next I'm going for de tango.

Ok, so the mrs is at work which means the oven is all mine. That means one thing when you own a uk blob. Yep a de tango session. Here are some pictures from start to finish. Not gonna bother with a full detailed run down as you guys know how it's done. Don't hesitate to ask questions tho.

Job done, really happen with the results. Need to give her a prober clean and photo shoot next to admire my handy work. Really was a easy task. And cheap as chips.

It really is a piece of cake. Very basic mechanical skills required for this.

I put them in at 80 degrees for a few minutes at a time and just kept checking them very regularly. The mastic didn't go really soft, just enough to prise them open. I did need a little force to prise them but it was all done with hands and fingers. No use of screw drivers to separate them. Just man force. Hope this helps. I also followed this thread.

Ok, so I got bored with the loud over bearing noise from the massive 3" bore and back box so have replaced it with a prodrive box which sounds so much nicer with still the burble.

Next was the hella supertones in the front grille which I absolutely love the look of. Only problem fitting then was the power steering pipe work on the drivers side but a quick loosen of the bracket bolt and bobs ya uncle, moved just enough to fit snugly.

Got my new number plate. Kept the lettering legal size but reduced the plate size. Tidies it up a little I think.

Bought some whiteline lowering springs off a fellow scoobynetter and had them fitted today but there seems to be no difference in height. Does anyone think or know if lowering springs settle after a while or is this it? I was told it should be around 30mm drop.
I don't think so.
