WRX to a complete track car
Right Guys, this is not the start of a project,
The car Is a 2006 2.5 Hawkeye WRX, a road car with, I think some good modifications on most of the areas,
it is not the most powerful car out there but with just short of 500 its not short of power too.
The stage I am at is taking the car from a fast road car to a track car,
this is getting rid of all the things that are heavy and you don't require. (My Wife) Only kidding
Things I need to know
1. plastic windows, and how to stop them coming away from the car with the doors been flameless.
2. Item that can be removed that I have not removed.
I am sure I will require other ideas and advise as I go through the winter.
Thanks
Bez

Next stage to fully strip interior out, get it caged
As far as the power I am not going to change the intercooler or ECU, But after looking at Duncan's numbers with Nos, I think I will go down that avenue. that should give me 600bhp ish with the gas, and it will only be used for the sprints and Drag, and 500bhp ish for the rest of the time.
Kaps Sequential is something I am deffo looking at,
Getting the car on a diet is going to start just about straight away, I will be looking at a carbon roof, Getting rid of the electric windows, speakers, changing the glass for plastic.

the first obvious things bez would be that mahoosive battery you have in the boot.swap that for a lightweight one.then get rid of all the sound deadening,it doesnt loose a massive amount of weight but it doesnt cost anything to do.as for the perspex windows,i would do the rears first and have a good think about the fronts, cos if you are still going to use the car on the road sometimes just think what a pain in the **** it will be pulling up at mcdonalds drive through and having to get out the car for you order because you carnt wind down your window.

If I'd known you'd end up going to these extremes, I would have let you beat me at Melbourne once or twice.
Look forward to seeing how you get on with it.

AC been removed under the bonnet area, but still to do at the back of the dash,
Air bags will all be going & getting a motor sport wheel,
Seats have been changed but the rears will be coming out for good.
Electric windows, speakers,
I am even going to be taking the STi rear spoiler of
RCM Parts,, What are these?
Toffee, I think its a Beast now, Just a Fat Beast.
Arf, Yes the battery. PS Snapped a front drive shaft on Friday.
Micky, all them years ago, you was the 1st I went down the strip with,
I know I didn't win, But I came 2nd.
Any Ideas would be grateful.
And Neil's idea of a 2 door newage, mmm I am looking at this, A big part of it is 2 less doors, less weight. I am looking at fibreglass or carbon doors, so will look at having 2 specials made. If Neil has any ideas where he could help, that would be great.

That sounds sooo wrong.
The sound deadening is meant to be easier to remove when it's cold, provided it's the same stuff as in a classic. Chips away easier and remove the residue with petrol or similar.

Bez,
Matty at pole position bought the GRD Newage shell that I looked at a while back and that has been changed to a 2 door very light also get yourself over onto 22B lots of people have gone down the route that you are going you can lighten your subframes etc remove electric window mech/drill the insides of the doors /take out the door inside impact bars if your caging the car, remove the u shaped brace under the front of the car the list is endless,,,,,,,go on a diet 10 pints instead of 20 or just stay on the shorts......lightweight clothing while competing

Hi Martin,
It's got to be the next stage,
I'v got a great reliable car now, but its just too fat,
Engine is still amazing me,
The car will still look like a std wrx next year, but fat free, apart from me.
I will still be concentrating on sprints, Value for money,
I was thinking about time attack, but there are so many sprints on the go for £120 ish a day, where Time attack is about £400ish.
Still got the same clutch in, But it is on its last legs, so That Will be getting Renewed, Sticking with the 6 paddle CC competition clutch.
How is your drag car doing?

Carpets, sound deadening, ABS, airbags, electric aerial, rear wiper, oem front seats, remaining aircon components from the interior all gone and as I mentioned the doors are getting the chop next.
Motor plans coming along, will still be a 2.1 but with a few tweaks to the heads, better cams and valves and nitrous to pep up my little bolt on turbo,
Glad your motor is still wowing you and best of luck for whatever you decide to compete in next year.

Not yet made a start on stripping the car yet,
as still doing one more trackday this year at Cadwell, so will start after that,
But I did get the car on the scales 1/4 tank of fuel 1440KG
So that is 80KG lighter than when it was new at 1520KG for An STi
But only 7 KG lighter than a WRX, Mine is only a WRX

Bez just unplug them and take them out,as for the doors take them off run a head gun over the panels and take out the inner door/crash bars(there part held in with mastic) then using a hole saw drill out every bit of the inner panel just leaving a skeleton frame on the inside a bit like gouda cheese thats a starter for you to get on with this weekend
