my96 winter build
well after buying the car roughly 6 months ago a my96 2000 in white, i have decided i want more power so ive started building/putting one together, not alot of progress so far just everything cleaned painted etc, hopefully have the cosworth head gaskets and arp studs by weekend to make some good progress. I've got a low mileage (38k) bottom end from a sti version 8, and some sti 3/4 heads few pics below gona be a while building so progress and updates will be slow.

engine starting to come together now offered exhaust gasket up and there was a big size difference
decided to open exhaust ports up to the gasket size
couldnt hurt i suppose.
picked these up friday from area 52
then spent the today in the shed and stated putting it together
got to now get cambelt kit, clutch and flywheel and its about ready drop back in

looking good, did u just replace headgaskets for the sake of runing more power or was it down to headgasket failure as if it was down to just want to run more power and if so did u need to get heads skimmed.

i bought the engine as a short block with no heads on and then bought the heads. i had both the block and heads faced to make sure there was a good seal its always advisable to at least get the heads checked and skimmed if needed.

Am thinking of doing something along the same lines. I was wondering what considerations (if any) were needed when putting the heads with the bottom end - compatibility etc ?
Have you thought about injectors and turbo yet ?
Nice looking build

the only thing with the heads is the cc but as it will need mapping its not a big deal i'd recommend area 52 to anyone as they were more than helpful and even double checked all calculations to make sure parts were suitable. as for turbo im gona run the the td05 16g for now then upgrade to one of area 52s 20g ones after hearing of the results off theres, 550cc injectors are coming so thats coverered.
